Didn’t they have a curved trigger also? I wonder what happened to that?
Assembled a new kit and hit the range this weekend. I had the exact same problem but putting a drop of oil on the disconnect hook and that solved it. Fired over a hundred rounds or so after that without any problems…
nice, welcome to the forum brother
I bought a new at 9mm blem. Says the functionality is good just blemish on the exterior. But when I took it out the first time the trigger got hung up and I had to manually reset it. Having to send it to a gunsmith to fix the trigger. So the 500.00$ gun will cost a lot more to run properly.
Was it a PSA product? Did you bother to contact PSA Customer Service?
I would definitely call customer service first. Why spend money on a new gun that malfunctioned straight out of the box? One guy that posted above said he put a drop of lube on the hammer disconnect and the gun has run smoothly since. Give that a try also. Did you give the gun a good cleaning and lubing when you got it?
For some people a trigger not resetting on a new gun is a simple challenge and fix……to others it’s an insurmountable task that is beyond their ability and they stress out over…”the trigger”.
There are many here on this forum who can help with this inconvenience. It’s really not complicated….they just need to have a little faith and make a good effort to understand and overcome the gritty non resetting trigger.
When we as gun owners overcome this minor issues….we come away with knowledge and power to help others. With confidence of understanding that the firearm is not as complicated or mysterious as some think it is. Everyone should have some understanding of their guns.
I’m having a similar issue with my new build. I’m in the assembly phase and just installing the trigger. The trigger will cock but will not reset/fire. It’s a standard mil-spec trigger. I switched it out with a new PSA mil-spec trigger and it does the same. However, if I manually press down on the back of the disconnector it clicks into position and will the release when I pull the trigger. Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated! I’ve built a few other AR’s without any issue. This one has me stumped. Thanks
Do you have the springs installed correctly??
Thanks for the response! I do. I rechecked them several times and they are orientated correctly.
You used the correct spring? It’s a roughly centimeter-long, slightly conical spring, with the “big end” seating down into the trigger - it’s easy enough to put [an extra] one from the bolt release or buffer retainer in. (BUT that will usually give hammer-follow)
Look for rough edges on the inside of the hammer and disconnector “hooks” - the disconnector is usually just a piece of stamped steel, and a ragged edge can give you the exact symptom you describe.
A few strokes with a stone, fine file, or even some very fine emory paper wrapped around an appropriate-diameter pen or other cylindrical object will cure that. (You’re NOT trying to reshape it - just smooth the inside-edges)
Thanks. I re-checked the springs and they are correct. I looked at the disconnector and there are no burrs or deformities to it. I tried adding a drop of oil to no avail. I’ve swapped out the trigger with a new mil-spec one and that didn’t fix the problem either. I did mill this lower myself (I’ve done several and never had any issues thus far) - could it be the trigger “hole” isn’t milled enough…? It’s clean and completely through the lower but maybe something doesn’t align correctly? Thanks again for your help and knowledge with this.
Post up some pics…top, sides and bottom.
Hey I’ve having the same problem with my ar15 I bought from you all
This is going to sound really obvious, and no insult intended, have you done any lubrication? If I remember correctly the military says to lubricate that area well. And I’ll add another vote for the PSA drop in trigger, I have the curved 3.5 lbs. unit in mine and it’s great.
I too am having the trigger reset issue. It seems to be a reoccurring problem with most all lowers that are purchased. Iam thankful for the warranty
No, not a problem with most lowers purchased. Never had this issue with any lower and I’ve built a lot of ARs.
300 blckout upper, m4a1 PSA lower. Trigger not resetting, even though it cycles in the next round.
Did you build it yourself?
