Yeah, that’s weird… First that I heard of it, on the radio around 20 minutes ago that the gunfire was unrelated and Trump wasn’t the target. Shows how much disinformation is out there.

Photo of the suspects backpacks and his rifle……? it looks more like an SKS with some thermoplastic stock & foregrip……it doesn’t have that AK47 profile. ….but it’s easy for the uneducated media to say “AK 47 type” rifle. It also sensationalizes their story with a “Scary aK “.

I realize it’s a poor photo and difficult to I’d the rifle…but the media could have easily took a better photo or had a firearms enthusiast ID it….but NOoooo. That wouldn’t have served their interest….we’ll see later.

2nd time someone used an SKS on republicans. Such an odd choice. I heard he had tiles in those backpacks.

They said he used an “AK47” style rifle. Not the best weapon for trying to hit a target several hundred yards away.

It lacks a pistol grip from the AK. its looks a little too slender forward of the magazine…where an AK forward of the magazine is taller…having to house the barrel& the gas tube. Not sure what it is until we have a better ID of the weapon….but it lacks the characteristics of the classic AK47.

I listened to the press conference and they said “it was an SKS style rifle with a scope”. So not AK style anymore.

Media knows four gun terms:

AR-15, AK-47, Glock, “assault weapon”
