What did you do today? Anything memorable?

Range trip today with a couple of these one ran great and one is going through a troubleshooting routine with a couple guys I truly respect.

One of these as well.

Through discussions yesterday ran like a sewing machine today.

I don’t want to tag them unless they want to chime in. The one Cheetah is (hopefully was) giving problems I was struggling to connect the dots on.

Knocked out cutting grass early before the heat/humility kicked in.

I am not much of a drinker but I believe that I would have had to reward myself with a ice cold beer to wash all of that dust and dirt out of my throat.

I did a little work on a few of my own firearms. Mostly trying to fix a cracked stock. The wood is so dry that it does split pretty easily and it has shrunk a little over the last 100 years. I drilled the stock and epoxied some small old dull drill bits into the stock to reinforce it and to keep it from splitting anynore. The spirals of the drill bit give more surface area for the epoxy to hold onto more than just slick metal rod. I tried to see if I could save myself some time with a used stock but I pretty much knew that it was a long shot on that.

Went to the range yesterday. It’s been a minute since I shot my Kimber Mako. Dang that thing runs smoothly and I shoot it very well. Just for fun I ran the target out to 25 and shot 10 at the head. Only one flier. It was a good day.

Any day throwing lead is better than a day at work. :grin: :+1:

Any day throwing lead is better than a day at………

Lots of options. :joy:

Lady in one of the units called to say birds nest fell down into the fireplace. Here’s the pine straw & grass from inside.
Then I went up on the roof to fix the cap.

Too hot to be on a dang roof…

That’s what I was saying the whole time I was up there. :sweat_smile::joy:

Well was hoping to do something memorable today. I am so anxious to bust targets today with a 1100LW 20 ga. But heat relief is upon us

@Coolwin1776
@Jammo

Man I know you’re dying to shoot that 1100 but I’d take some heat relief right now :hot_face:

That reminds me, I didn’t win the 1100 20ga LW I was bidding on, unfortunately. There are more out there :+1:

David,
can you tell me the final price at auction?
@davidlandonjr

It went for $700. I would have gone higher but I honestly forgot about it.

Thanks brother! I got mine for a sound compared to that final price. Sorry you missed out but patience will be your wallets best friend…sometimes.

It’s a bit high but those 20LW versions don’t come up much. :grin:

Well I worked on a few different things today. It is bad having so many projects but at least when something is drying you can jump to a different project.

I finally got back out my Remington Sportsman 58 forearm and stock. The forearm was badly cracked. I finally sanded down the excess epoxyand the taped it off and started re-checkering. I did a light sanding over both the stock and forearm. I put a light stain on them to help cover over where I had to sand down to the wood. I still have to put several layers of shellac and then buff both of them out with some rottenstone. I think once I have the high gloss back on them and polished it will really bring back out the colors and grain of the wood.

There is now a big difference between the before and after on the forearm. Inside the checkering the crack has disappeared. On the smooth end of the forearm you can just barely make out the dark line in the smooth part od the wood. I really don’t think most people will ever realize that there was ever a crack there much less one as big as it was.

Beautiful work Greg and that grain is talking to me! Checked out the garden after the rain. I should have picked squash, peppers and a few green tomatoes before it got wet.
