Why 20 rd boxes of 5.56?

Why does aac sell their m193 in 20 rd boxes rather than 30? I’d gladly pay for 10 more rounds to get 1 box of ammo for 1 magazine shipped straight to my doorstep. I can kind of see for things like 308 and 6.5 creedmoor, but 5.56 is most commonly used with 30 rd mags, why sell 20 rd boxes?

Everyone sells/makes 20rd boxes. It is the best cost ratio for makers and consumers. The next step up is 50rd boxes.

Buy 3 boxes of 20rds and load up 2 mags.

This is what i did for years. Every time i was in the store or ordered online i added 3 boxes. When prices went up as Biden was elected i was sitting on thousands of rounds of ammo bought cheap and stacked deep.

Maybe it has to do with the fact that M16 magazines used for most of the Vietnam War were 20 round magazines, and the industry never changed the cartridge box size when the 30 round magazines became the standard.

IMI makes a 30rnd box. I have a ‘few’ of them

And they shoot just and cycle like the rest

yes they do. I’ve shot thousands of them and have plenty more in vacuum sealed bags waiting for their turn.

Please, sir. You’re making life a little less fun for folks with 40-round mags. Have a heart.
My defensive pistol ammo comes in 25 boxes. My revolver ammo comes in 20, 100, 325, etc. This is the whole “hot dog/bun ratio” thing. It borders on chaos. I hate chaos, unless I personally have brought it about. Then it’s very good chaos.

That IMI is decent, I’ve run a few mags, zero issues.

I prefer the price on AAC. They do have some bulk offerings in 300 rnds I think.

Because us cranky old 20rd mag bastards refuse to die…

Rifle ammunition has been sold in twenty round boxes since ammunition was sold in boxes

Unless they sell it by the 14,000 Rd drum.

Note: Same Drum was $4,400 before Biden the ruiner was installed by deep state.

I have entered 2 or 3 contests, where the 14,000 Rd drum was the prize. I swear to you it was for sale for $4,400.00. It should come with a free replacement barrel.:us_outlying_islands:

I kind of like the 20 rounders, when I go to the range I’m not using 30 round mags, generally I will take 20 round mags with me… so it works fine.

I traded a case of 7.62x39 to a guy for a case of IMI 5.56. I didn’t realize before we met to trade that I was getting 1200 rounds in exchange for 1000!
