Can someone with a PSA AK with a wood stock give me some measurements? I need the height and the width of the stock where it meets the receiver. Some pics would be nice also.
My engineering mind is running and i have an idea…

i am interested to see this project come to completion.
I think I’ve been down this road too.
I’ve included a measured drawing and some pics.
the wood grain stock is a palmetto with an inch added to the length of pull.
The other is scratchbuilt made to resemble a CETME.
That is a CETME buttpad.

If i’m seeing it correctly, the actual stock where the tang meets the stock portion is a little wider, closer to 1 3/8?
Exactly.
Not sure why the PSA has the smaller step cuts.
I decided not to make those cuts on the one I made and it fit just fine.
I used a table saw and adjusted the blade height and fence to make the cuts.
I had the PSA stock to use as a pattern.
Its a little tricky to cut so I left it a little large and sanded to fit.
Always seems to go that way with AKs.

Interestingly, from an engineering standpoint, I didn’t get the gift of “design new”. You give me an idea though… and boy howdy I’ll figure out how to make it work.

A little update…i have furniture on order. And this is what i have already…
That rear tang is specific to PSA AK’s .

Was supposed to be delivered today, but UPS didnt pick it up until today even though the label was created Monday. Tomorrow it is.
