My AK-101 Stock is Angled Wrong…

It does not matter if I use the PSA-branded buffer tube adapter or an expensive Circle 10 triangle stock, my buttstock has this really weird upward angle to it that I have never seen in an AK before. Is this just how that rear trunnion is designed now?

Pics would help.

Photo deleted.

I feel like I’m having to mash my face into the stock just to use the irons.

not sure.. the pic makes it hard to see what your saying, but i’ve had to really put my face down into the stock area before on my ak’s too to use the sights sometimes.. ot sure if its cause its off alignment or if its just that way.. never really thought about it..

If you zoom in you can see a little misalignment at the rear of the receiver. I have no clue on spec limits for PSA but it would push the tail up a little. Where one would get a cheek weld would be even less of a moment arm. I miss having AutoCAD for doing a quick mock-up to see how much difference.

well with my AK’s the PSA ones anyways, most of them are all folders. I have one that is a fixed stock, the GF5,and its a plum stock not a wired triangle. I’ll have to take it out and see if it is off any.

Im wondering if there are tolerance issues between that circle 10 stock and the reciever. Is that the original rear trunion or was it a part of the stock?

You might can try loosening the rear trunnion and seeing if you can get it to align before tightning down the screws.

This is as straight as it gets. I have decided I can live with the gap. I did try a Circle 10 cast aluminum triangle stock that honestly fit the best. I also tried an IMI MAK-1 polymer buffer tube that did not fit at all.

At some point, I may grab a Rifle Dynamics buffer tube adapter and try it, but for now, I can live with the out-of-spec rear tang and trunnion. I can reasonably expect that if I am in a home defense situation that this will work fine if I need to hit the bang switch.

I have decided that my next project will be a Radom or Zastava, though.

I had a PSA side-folder that I had to sell to pay some bills when money was scarce. I miss that gun.

I like the look of that Ak, the furniture really is cool looking to me.

oh i bet you do miss it. but hey we all do what we have to to survive.. you can always get another one when times are better.

I absolutely see the slant. I’d suspect either the rear trunnion or maybe the receiver are out of spec.

FB and zastava are great. FB, and WBP are making some amazing rifles for the price

One would need the Print to make that conclusion.

You hit on something here.

I have to manage my expectations with this rifle. If I’d spent FB, Arsenal, or even Zastava money, I’d be much more upset.

I didn’t. I spent about half, actually less, for a barreled receiver. Insisting on Radom quality would be unrealistic.

It’s a serviceable weapon. It’ll be fine.
