XM177E2 Build Question

Of course I am in the middle of a H&R M16A2 retro build, but I have a strong desire to start acquiring parts for a H&R XM177E2 build. My “FUN MONEY” is limited each week, so I have to acquire parts a few at a time. My question is what would be your first part acquisition if you so desired to build a clone XM177E2? I’m thinking I should start with the H&R XM177E2 gray lower. That way I’m kind of locked in to encourage me to stick with the XM177E2 project (along with the H&R M16A2 project). What are your thoughts?

Buy the complete lower.

Pay the man, get it engraved.

Buy the complete upper [non p/w] when stamp comes back.

Put them together.

As much as I like your idea GuitarGuy, my budget will not allow me to jump on a complete lower assembly right now. Plus, I enjoy assembling the lowers (Legos were not available when I was a kid and as much as I wanted an Erector Set from the Sears Christmas Toy Catalog, I never got one). So I pulled the trigger on a stripped H&R XM177E2 gray lower receiver today.

That’s exactly what I did this afternoon, GamecockOperator! I love assembling these lowers.

i do too. its the fun of tinkering and putting small parts together that i enjoy its like building a model almost, cept when you’re done, you have something that functions and is ready for the next step… thats why i enjoy assembling them.
