2022 Running/Walking ongoing thread

Just stretching can be a great motivator. Rather passive, still feel a little burn, and you see results pretty quickly. I’m close to as removed from high school as you are, have only gotten serious about stretching the last couple months, and I was surprised how quickly I am nearly as flexible as when I was nicknamed Spiderman back then.

Splitting firewood for exercise today.

1.6/7.3

2.5 miles 90 push-ups 150 squats.

3.5/66.25

Now that kids are back in school from quarantine I’m back in the gym. So 30-45min of weights prior to running.

Day 3 of forming a daily exercise routine. I already caught myself trying to “take just one night off” last night. So I did some push-ups after cardio to see how many I could do. 1 set of 30, but I couldn’t have done another 5. Thinking ill add that to the menu and see how I go.

I watch this thread daily. You guys are really inspiring. I suffered a pulled muscle last week and it’s getting better daily. Iam convinced that I need to get up….n….get out and start an exercise program. As soon as I am able…. I am going to start.
You guys keep up the good exercise program…….your motivating me and others with your ongoing program. As soon as I am able…. I am out there !

1/71.5

Too cold and windy to do more. 1 is still better than just sitting on my rear all day.

Just checking my phone in-between sets before I go to the small child power wheels drag races tonight. Should be a pretty standard weight lift day.

Yesterday I took the ab wheel out of the circuit training because best case I wasn’t getting much out of it, but more likely it was a net loss because it was working my arms too much on what should have been a rest day for them.

4.5/76 for the month. Not bad since I missed a week with covid.

Also decided to have a kill the chest day. 10x12 sets of 190 on Supine Bench followed by 3x8 sets of fly at 180. Gonna be sore tomorrow.

2.5 mi. Hike 120 push-ups (40 per set) 150 squats

I don’t know if this counts as missing a day or is an acceptable substitute, but my old man needed a slab poured for a backup generator at his house. Neither my brother nor brother-in-law was available to help, so I did the mixing and pouring and dad leveled. We did 25 bags at 80lbs each, 2 at a time in a wheelbarrow over 2 hours yesterday morning. Wasn’t painful but I was tired for sure. I feel like it should count as long as I don’t skip today.

I take 1 day a week off from running, although usually end up with a long walk on that day. Letting the body rest is not a bad thing at all.

Any physical activity works in my book. Burning calories is burning calories.

I was always told that rest and recovery days were when you actually got stronger.

Yes, because when you lift weights you are actually tearing/ripping your muscles. A day off gives them a chance to heal/grow.
