any plans?
There is a 45 raptor out there too , i stumbled on the same website you posted and was immediately intrigued. I’m thinking SERIOUS HOG BUSTER!!!
Ok, this has my attention.
its parent case is the 308 winchester. dies are available to roll your own but preformed brass is available also. I dont know what i can say here except there are some barrel makers offering this chambering as well as pre modified mags.
Looks pretty cool on paper. If I were a reloader I’d seriously consider that, but for the last 5+ years I either was working at least six days a week and didn’t have the time or you couldn’t get at least one reloading component to get in the game.
That would be a hell of a hog round for my part of the world, but I’ll just have to stick to ear holing them with green tips or the ol AR308.
I think this one crossed my radar a bit ago and while I do enjoy loading my own hunting ammo, I just couldn’t justify all the extra work for it, cool as it is. I just wouldn’t have a use for it anywhere that 308 or 6.5 creed don’t already over qualify. It would hammer a big boar, but a monometal 140gr out of my purty little psa ar65 does that, too, and I’ve got components for that load to last me.
Edit: +1 for m855 earhole. Second best way to drop them
never heard of it till this post. interesting, but for me,until it becomes much more main stream, im gonna be hands off.
I’m in the same boat as everyone else. Personally, I hope we look into it. Professionally, we dont have any plans for it at this time.
I’ve never seen that round before in my life. Seems like its like 300 blackout is to 5.56, starting with the parent case and all. What is it similar to ballistically, and what are it’s advantages?
Ok, got it. I should have done my own research before asking questions. Sorry guys. According to what I just saw, a .308 has more range, but the Raptor can have 1000 foot pounds more of muzzle energy out to 400 yds. So is the point of this round to not have to chase down your game after the shot? Seems like a lot of trouble to go to.
If 375 Raptor is a good idea … 338 Federal is an EXTRA good idea.
Because you can get decent BC bullets, e.g. 185 grain Barnes with a BC of .432
.375 loses Velocity a little fast - because of its size and Frontal wind drag - as opposed to Drag on the side, related to Length.
I drive 180 grain Barnes using a 308, no problem & no over-pressure using a full case of 4198.
I would like to see someone make a 338 Federal upper with a 24" HEAVY barrel to tame the recoil.
375 would be interesting, but you’re going to a lot of trouble to get that bullet out 300 yards and then it simply starts dragging, more than the 338.
Of course, foot pounds at the muzzle will be greater with the 375.
I disagree about the 338s being a better idea than the 375s .
This is not a 22 caliber toy. There is no 2.280” going on in here. The larger mag wells and massively larger parent case of the 308 as compared to the 223s is a real game changer.
Keep in mind this is primarily a SUBSONIC range cartridge with the added bonus of having 308 caliber energy in a full power cartridge, and it will indeed go to 1000 yards. Youtube has several shooters shooting it that far already uploaded. For the practicality, (Deer Hunting) how can you ask for a better cartridge than a 375 Raptor to take down a trophy deer? It will deliver more energy into the target than a 308 due to its larger diameter and at the current subsonic loads, some achieving 1300 ft/lbs energy, it has as much energy subsonic as a 30/30 lever action rifle. Who can ask for anything more?
The thing is, the 375 “Just FITS” the 308 parent case so well. its the largest round that easily sits in the necked up cartridge. This is the natural path for people who like the idea of the 300 blackout and want to combine that with subsonic deer hunting.
Why do I smell O1 (ozone) from an AI worm?

Welcome @MilSpecMichael . I encourage you to read the TOS for the forums you signed up for…..
@MilSpecMichael welcome to the forums man! glad to have you! and what you are saying about the 375s makes alot of sense. thanks for that info.
Ozone is made up of 3 oxygen atoms in a V formation. Its actually O3.
Personally, I am sick of “New” 2.280 length bullets. The 556/223 is an “Intermediate” power cartridge. Just about anything you cut off at 2.28 inches ends up being intermediate powered.
I get it a lot of people own AR15s. But seriously.
It doesnt hurt to invent new rounds for people who can handle recoil above a 22.
