5.45x39 ammo options for the AK74

5.45 is such a great round. Surely psa is planning on making some soon.

Better than 556 imo.

Will they be making brass cased 5.45 ammo as well as steel cased? I hope so because I bought die and bullets in .215.

The 7.62x39 steel case line should be ready before Christmas. After that the next line is 6.5G, which they hope will be ready by February. 10 more calibers after that including 22lr and 6.8spc. Will take 2.5 years for those 10 calibers to be set up IF things go as planned.

What about the 5.45x39? Some guy has a youtube channel who visited the SC factory. He says it goes firstly 7.62x39, then 5.45x39mm, then 7.62x54r. Is he right? Also, will the ammo be boxer or berdan primed? 5.45 is nearly non existent in US/Canada now. I would think PSA who makes ak74s would want the 5.45 out soon and I would think AAC might consider brass 5.45 since they would have a International monopoly on it since Hornady DCed it. Most of the guys fighting in Ukraine seem to be using 5.45 so even if the demand domestically is limited it’s a staple in East Europe and Eurasia Thanks.

Just clean your barrel out immediately after using it, even if is says non-corrosive it is. Make sure you use a water based cleaner/solvent to do it. It works fine and loads great because of the short and tapered case. It’s a great round but it’s filthy. Try to get a barrel with a twist rate that is just enough to stabilize it. 1:14 is really ideal to give maximum terminal effect. In barrels with twists like this the 7N6 round is absolutely devastating and perfectly accurate. You might have trouble finding that twist rate in a modern domestic barrel but at least with a tighter rifling you can shoot a variety of projectile weights. Wolf makes (or at least made) a 69 grainer to destabilize in a 1:9 barrel, but it doesn’t have the vacuum/steel tip and lead base that makes the 7n6 so effective. I recommend saving 7n6 for emergencies or plinking. I do not recommend hunting with it. It contaminates too much on impact. Again. just always clean your barrel with a water based solvent after use.

A 74 will beat brass to death, probably not worth it tbh.

Oh man I really hope the 5.45 comes soon, because you’re right its almost not existant now. I have four rifles to enjoy in this caliber. I would really rather steel cased and not brass. I hear what you’re saying but honestly who is going to be able to reload it? Unless AAC also made their supplies available for reloaders but I say why bother with that unless it is so successful that it actually makes sense. For now though we just need some freaking 5.45 at a reasonable price!

Crickets

Romarm makes some but its not for us market probably

No but we get more $1600 PSA “budget” rifles and look!!! EXTREME CARRY CUTS on that mediocre dagger. Ohhhhh ahhhh ohhhhh but it’s in GREEN today!!!

GTFO.
545 market is begging for product and we get more 9mm options in a market of dozens and dozens of 9mm options

Are you looking hard enough?

If you wanna send it for .73 a round (even ordering 1500), for corrosive ammo, you feel free. But realistically you can still get old surp for .55ish

They’re Berdan but non-corrosive Berdan.

Let’s go!!! The market is so dry for 5.45. But they kee pumping out 5.56 and 300blk which is everywhere.

Thats because 5.56 and 300blk is what the majorty of people shoot.

Norma and ammo inc do hunting rounds not target. Even though they should do it in brass or steel casee
