I know these PSA Krink’s are new enough and there is not a lot of good information out yet, so I figured I would share my findings with you all. I searched around for a low-mount red-dot with MOTAC. After digging through a lot of options, I found a Sig Romeo 5 on the PSA Daily Deals, that seemed to be both low-profile, and MOTAC, with optional riser I could use if I was not happy with my attempt at co-witness (the ability to use the iron sights in conjunction with the red dot).
I am using the AK Master Mount Optic Mount AKMM-OMRB, since it was the only optic mount that I could currently find that assured of clearing the rear sight that is specific to the Krink platform. This Optic Mount does require removal to clean the rifle, but it is a quick click on and off, no real issue.
Sig Romeo 5 came from the factory zeroed to be used on the riser. Without the riser, to try to achieve co-witness, I spent time and ammo on bringing the zero UP, it was shooting way low at 50. It did not require much tweaking for left/right. After about 40 rounds, I was zeroed to 100 yards and ringing the metal. That is about what I need for this particular gun.
The below pictures are how the sight looks on the Krink, and what the sight picture looks like.
So where co-witness is concerned, sights should ideally be in the bottom 1/3 of the optic. Well, the front sight is there, but there is no way to see the rear sight. So, what I will do if the optic battery goes dead, is use the optic itself will as an aperture to the front sight. HOWEVER, one must remember that the front sight is considerably lower, and estimate where the red dot would be suspended above the curved shroud that is around the front sight, like shown in the picture.
I think I can handle that configuration. The only thing that concerns me, is if someone else wants to use the Krink, I will need to explain the setup to them so that they don’t use the iron sight by default without compensation, and end up firing some flyers. I don’t like that aspect of the setup, but I don’t think that is a problem specific to the Krink. I am having experimental ideas of adding a rear sight or raised front sight, but I also want to remain true to the classic Krink look and I don’t want to remove the wood.
