About the KS-47 category

Hello,

I apologize if this has already been addressed but I couldn’t find it anywhere. Is there a manual for this firearm? I own two but can’t find a manual for it.

Thanks!

Good luck getting anything like that! Hell you can’t even get ahold of anybody to discuss your issues and when you join this damn forum you can’t even directly post for who knows how long to figure out issues your having.

Can the KS-47 lower be used with an upper like the brn 180?

@joecap16 no it cant.

Looking for the correct size Lug-Lok to install H/G’s, muzzle devices, etc. Is it .750" since that’s the diameter of the lugs on my KS-47? Thanks

Are you referring to the RealAvid lug lok?

I dont use it but if changing hand guards i prefer the Wheeler upper tool. I use barrel blocks for muzzle devices.

Well I’m changing out the handguard from drop in to free float, grinding down the front sight, changing the barrel nut etc. And yes I’m referring to the realAvid lok…think is there are different sizes so I’m trying to get the right size lug.

I personally have one seen one for 5.56/223 and for ar10 platforms. Neither would be useful for 7.62x39.

I’m trying to get help with my 2x KS47s. Both are having extraction issues. I tried to call and the phone system couldn’t understand me or otherwise useless.

They’re both having extraction problems - pretty low round count on both - maybe a few hundred in the 16” and less than 100 on the shorter barrel (not exactly sure the pistol barrel length).

The 16” will not only fail to eject, the casing gets stuck and needs to have a forced cycle. The pistol is less this way but will fail to eject and jam. I’ve swapped the bolt carriers, cleaned them and multiple attempts to lubricate to where everything seems smooth but next range trip it happens again.

Sorry - I don’t see where to create a new post / thread

Do you have the TC-E extractor?

Maybe email CS and see if they respond. PSA will fix them.

I’m 99+% sure I don’t since mine are Gen 1 and makes sense that this is a fix for a point of failure. It seems to line up in my mind as both functioned perfectly at first but, not too many rounds into it, I started getting extraction issues and progressively worse and worse. I know they had a Gen 2 but can’t remember what it addressed so maybe this was it. In any event, I just sent an email after an hour of trying to call, print forms, etc. so hopefully it’ll be smooth from here.

Many thanks for your help!

@sean.psa or @Josiah_PSA might can get you some help on that if they are Gen 1s.

I seriously doubt the ammo would be the issue just based on my experience with the platform. First, it’s a carbine length DI gas system so for a 7.62 there’s plenty of gas going into the cycle process. Both of mine are over gassed - I noticed this from day one but it’s kind of a typical thing in the AK world for reliability. Literally, the first thing I was going to do was a piston setup but realized the proprietary nature meant an adjustable gas block was about as good as I could do and never even got around to it. Bottom line, I’ve put close to 10 different types of ammo through mine and initially it was all good but now i’m in the FTE boat with both of mine no matter what I run. I think it makes sense the extractor could be the issue but if the OP has different ammo to try it certainly wouldn’t hurt.

On the flip side - I can’t emphasize enough how much I hate sending in anything for repair work. Some companies have been amazing but I’ve never had to send anything back to PSA. Maybe once or twice they shipped me a part and I was golden but the fact OP has been waiting a quarter year to get his rifle back is not even arguable as to the acceptability of this. I realize parts can go out of stock or whatever but it doesn’t show well with the company on this one and why I’ve hesitated buying some of the new products. Don’t get me wrong, I’m super big on PSA despite having guns that cost 4x and champion them based on my experience but my hesitation grows after my latest attempts to get help. Being on hold for hours, answered and immediately disconnected, call back, more extreme wait times - it’s been frustrating.

Thanks - I’ve talked to Josh before and he got me dialed in with a replacement part with very little headache on my end. When you say “@” in front of their names - is this for X (aka Twitter)? I was going to search my emails to reach out to Josh as the phone system is crazy / extremely unhelpful.

I very much appreciate the quick response and don’t mean to sound stupid on the best way to contact either person.

The @ is for these forums. Its a notification feature.

I’ve been running a Q ThunderChicken on mine for quite a few years now … on a 10.5 inch KS47 … I’ve also got an adjustable gas block on it … this made it run extremely smooth … I’ve got a 16inch KS47 and it does not have an adjustable gas block on it and it definitely needs one … over gassed bad

Does the ks-47 have a low shelf (m16 pocket, auto sear pocket) by chance? Also do i understand correctly the bcg is specific to this gun and is req’d?

@GamecockOperator can provide for sure answers, but PSA doesnt do low shelf lowers at all (or didnt).
Yes, bcg is specific.

Im just curious because I saw on the PSA website saying that the KS-47 stripped lower was on a closeout sale, does that mean that production of the platform is ending or does PSA have something new in the works with it?

Also another question on this topic; I know that there is a separate thread for the JAKL, but would the JAKL platform ever get a 7.62x39 option to run on the KS-47 lower?

Closeout of that particular SKU.
