One of the smallest and lightest PCCs I can think of is the DBX 57, which at 3lbs unloaded is still twice the weight and over twice the length of this pistol. PCC’s in a caliber like 9 mm are going to weigh even more. The smallest 9 mm PCC I can think of is the scorpion micro which weighs in at 4.7 lb unloaded with nothing attached. And it’s got a frankly pathetic 4.2 inch barrel.
I think you might want to put your hands on one in real life to get a proper feel for the size.
Im having an issue removing the factory Iron Sights on my Rock 57. Went to 3 different gunsmiths and no one has been able to remove them. The sights is suppose to slide out correct? No locking screw?
The scorpion micro is almost the exact same size as the mp5k.
There are a number of companies who have done what you’re describing, the problem is, It’s mostly illegal in America, because that means having an easily attachable stock to a pistol.
Perhaps you should look up the ruger LC carbine, it’s a pistol caliber carbine that loans magazines into the magwell inside the grip.
Problem is since it’s a carbine it’s required to have a 16 inch barrel therefore not small.
The term you’re looking for there is a ‘large format pistol’
kel-tec p50 and dbx-57 are going to be your options there. I’m definitely not aware of any sort of setup that offers swappable barrel lengths in the way you’re describing, but I wouldn’t be upset if there were some out there.
I mean technically there’s also masterpiece arms, but it’s masterpiece arms so…
I can’t think of a practical way to do that that wouldn’t result in the ATF coming at you to say that’s a stock even if it’s just the magazine hanging off the back.
As far as titanium goes, not really sure what the advantages really are over polymer. Pretty much anything that’s going to destroy your polymer pistol is likely to kill you too, so it seems like it would be an outsized cost for no real gain that I can think of in a semi-auto pistol.
That being said, it seems like titanium barrels are becoming a more common option, which is obviously a place where some weight savings could be had even on the rock.
There’s no round from any firearm that you are likely to ever carry or own that’s going to have guaranteed one shot stop. There’s people who have taken a 50 BMG to the torso and lived to tell about it.
I forget who it was but somebody analyzed shootings involving handgun rounds and the average number of rounds required to force an attacker to stop. And I think the average variance between 44 Magnum and 9 mm was a half a round.
Most civilian gunfights happen at a distance of 21 ft or less and most shots miss. Bearing that in mind, i’d rather have 20 some odd rounds on my side, low recoil and faster follow-up shots, than planning to rely on knockdown power or whatever.
Well 50 is the very minimum you can buy generally.
In all seriousness the ammo is not that expensive. The costs for 5.7x28 self defense are on par with 9 mm self defense ammo unless you get into the really boutique ■■■■.
just wait for the AAC ammo to debut its 5.7 ammo. I am hoping that they will set the market on the price point and thus cause other manufacturers to finally drop their prices some. We’ll see… that ammo should be on the market very soon.
whatever you do, i’d wait til the end of shot show before buying anything because i’m sure there are going to be some awesome things coming out this week. And of course im biased but I’d buy both a rock and a dagger. As for the round being weird… i’ve been a fan of it for probably 10 years now, and im glad to see others finally jumping on board. its a lot of fun. but yeah, watch shot show offerings. there will be a lot of fun stuff coming!
Look for the dagger/ rock frame combo. they run that for about 170 or so at times then add slide etc as needed, ( I have a rock frame in drawer)
You can outfit both very nicely for less the the MSP of the 5.0
Not hard at all I have 12 at the moment and they are only 20 each.
I confess i did buy the 530.00 package rock with 10 mags back in Oct so I had a bunch.
I sold that ( Gun and 2 mags) for almost same $ and bought the Holosun with threaded barrel and then the 2 frame combo to set up a Dagger. My dagger cost 80 plus 200 for optic ready slide and threaded barrel. Ill buy a Rock slide another sale day…
