AK-P to deadair Sandman S?

Hey guys buying a deadair sandman s, and want to be able to use it on my akp moe. Can I use an adapter then check and make sure it’s concentric with a rod?

What do you mean by adaptor? Muzzle device?

I use a CNC warrior thread adapter (14x1LH to 5/8x24), SilencerCo ASR brake, and SiCo Hybrid suppressor. I could’ve bought the direct thread mount, but I have ASR brakes on all my other rifles so I went with the adapter and brake. The threads on my AK-P are on the barrel, not the front sight block, so I was more confident it would be concentric especially with a .46 cal suppressor. I still checked alignment with a rod before I fired it. If your muzzle threads are part of the front sight block definitely check concentricity because tolerance stacking with just a thread adapter can make aligned threads misaligned, more so with an adapter and muzzle brake.

1 degree off axis = .017 deflection at 1 inch.

So a 6 inch long suppressor will tilt about 1/10 inch if the base is mounted 1 degree off axis.

I’ve been wanting to have a 5/8-24 thread added to my 6.8 SPC since it has a nice fat 1 inch diameter barrel.

But when I do the math … I would be asking for a .001 deflection at the tip of the mounted suppressor.

.01 degrees, for the tolerance on the axis of the thread, relative to the barrel reference, whatever that is in minutes and seconds. Not sure I can find a machinist who will sign up for that.

Also the reference is really the rifling, but it’s hard to chuck up on that with a lathe.

Also there is a tolerance build-up sometimes … I added a 1/2 to 5/8 adapter to my 5.56. It worked OK with the suppressor … Maybe got lucky.

@LBL Most 6.8spc barrels are already 5/8x24. Is yours different?

Check with Jmac customs:
https://www.jmac-customs.com/muzzle-devices/keymount-keymicro-keymo/

I have their keymo for my AR and it’s great. I also got the LAF and it’s awesome! Both are done very well and perform as intended.

Also they are licenced by DeadAir to make the Keymo/etc… mounts.

There was a period of time in 2018 or 19 when Bear Creek was selling 24 inch heavy and bull barrels for almost ridiculous prices.

I have had good luck with the quality, though I know a firearms store owner who tells me he had to ‘eat’ about 25 Bear Creek uppers.

The rifle I’d like to add a thread feature to is 24 inch, 1 inch diameter, no threads. Cost about $200 for the upper.

DPMS charged $500 for their bull barrel 223 and $700 for their bull barrel 308, in the time-frame 2017 to 2019. I think those are some of the highest quality uppers I have, though they only have a bipod mount, no M-Lok or Keymod.

Gotcha. ADCO is the place to send it if you want it threaded and concentric. They do great work.
