AK-V Stock Options

I’m interested in buying a AK-V 9mm pistol with a side folding stock but was wondering if I could buy one with either no stock or a non-folding SBA3 style stock and then install a side folding one after the fact easily? Thanks!

Welcome @tmaycsu ! Yes, adding a side folder is easy and will be your best option.

Great, thanks! I know they are popular so being able to buy any of the stock combinations makes things much easier.

Just a note…make sure you arnt confusing a brace for a stock. Especially in this day and age. The SBA3 is a brace.

Right right, sorry…I’ll get my terms right haha, but yea I meant a brace.

@tmaycsu Thursday may be the temporary end of braces for a while (I say temporary because I think lawsuits will be inbound quickly…just a hunch though). You might want to look at padded buffer tubs and other options for a shorty without a brace.

I did see the ATF told the Justice Dept to get lost over trying to designate braces as NFA tax stamp type items

They did…but times have changed. The GOP has no majority, and we can’t count on the supreme court.

You talked me into it, I bought a separate SB Tactical black side folding brace that seems to be the exact same thing as the PSA one haha. Same model number as the PSA’s item page lists too, but they actually have the black ones in stock here

Check out the CNC. All metal and has more of a unique look. It might not be too late to cancel your order. FYI, i ordered mine March 6th and it still isn’t here. demand is pretty high and they are pumping them out as soon as they can. The plastic part of the triangle stock is a bit of a turnoff for me.

@tmaycsu To make it easier on you I would purchase an AK-V with the pic rail adapter already installed. Here is an example. You can then attach the SB brace or other pic style to it.

Which one fits the AK-V?

When I bought my AKV it had the pic rail flat back which I removed and installed what PSA calls “the puzzle piece” which makes it a standard tang to accept what a regular AK would accept.
VLTOR also makes an AR buffer tube that goes into a standard AK rear and you can put whatever stock(SBR)/brace onto the tube.
Just an FYI.

Ive just purchased an PSA AK-V 16" 9mm MOEkov Rifle, was curious if anyone knows if it is a milspec buffer tube? Thank you for any information.

Yes it is.

Thank you, this will make stock options easier.

Can a Romanian wooden butt stock be attached to the AKV ?

It should, although the tang may need modifying on the stock.

It’s a Romanian clubfoot stock…how? is there an adapter … do I modify ? I cannot find anything online… thanks Guitar guy.

The trunnion and tang…the wooden trunnion that goes into the receiver, may need to be modified (sanded, a little chiseled, new holes, etc) to work. Additonally, PSA uses their “puzzle peice” tang so the wood may need to be modified to use it.

I cant say for sure what modifications may be done because it depends on that specific stock.
