What kind of black finish is used on the metal for the rifle?
Black Oxide?
Paint?
Parkerize and paint?
Something ele?
Its a teflon based coating applied like paint.
Thanks. Seems Teflon is fairly abrasion resistant and protects from rust.
Normally I “commit” oiling and lubrication on my hardware. Wife noticed that the exterior was unusually reflective with an oil film. With the Teflon it’s probably not needed so I cleaned off the coating. Interior is still lubed mainly with Mobil 1 synthetic grease.
Yep, nailed it!
I know this what mentioned before but I just want to check.
Is there another coat underneath the teflon paint on the PSA AKs? Ex: Phosphate base and then teflon paint ontop?
Thank you.
When I was in aero, any “teflon” type coating needed a substrate. Not sure on their process.
I dont think so but not sure.
Let me know if you find out please. I appreciate you being so active on here.
They may not give out that info, but i can ask.
The blem sample I have seems to be a single coat over pickled steel (gas tube and top cover have poor application of the coat). The same for the receiver.
