Akv qd brake ?’

I’ve had a Rex silentium 458 can on my Akv direct threaded for 3 plus years and it has been awesome but I now have the KS47 10.5" and wanted to switch the can between the 2. I recently found a QD brake system from Rex Silentium that will let me do that however my problem now is the brake threads all the way to the barrel and it’s a tapered type of QD Brake system

so the suppressor will not seat down far enough because the can is meeting the handgaurd and front post before seating all the way.

This brake does not have to be timed so no crush washers needed. I believe I can use shims to give me the clearance needed to get the brake away far enough so l can seat the suppressor on the brake properly. I don’t believe that will be an issue but has anyone else experienced this or has this done and if so any issues?

Thanks for any solid advice.

I would be very careful. The shoulder of the barrel is under the gas block. If you shim against the gas block you may not have good alignment.

Thanks for pointing this out! I just got shims and was about to start the process but now I can have an eye on this area and check the alignment. Very appreciative of your input.

wow.. thats a serious issue there… GG thanks for pointing that out i wouldnt hav thought about the alignment issue either… I would have thought the shims would have made it good to go automatically, whcih they may, but still… anyways, I dont have anything to add to your issue, but I did want to welcome you to the forums @richieconstancio Ricardo! welcome to our forums!! please make yourself at home, enjoy yourself, welcome to the family, and we hope to see you around a lot!! nice can by the way! (i too have a KS47, just finished assembling it… havent figured out can yet)

I have a similar question, completely new to using cans and my initial plan was to direct thread on the akv for the sake of simplicity, but the can I got (Banish 46 v2, wanted something universal to cover a variety of my collection) is not showing good alignemnt/concentricity, I am assuming because the the direct thread mount rests on the gas block instead of the barrell shoulder, since shoulder is beneath block and not accessible. Any ideas or suggestions of a better mounting system? Tried jam nut but seemed to give the same misalignment. Thanks!

Don’t let your jam nut hit the gas block either, it’ll put the same offset into the nut/can. Check the tanker brake that came with it. If it looks similar, it will have to go back. That bad of a mis-alignment would have been caught by SPC.

Can you do tri lug? The hahnson brothers tri lug will go under the gas block and mount on the shoulder of the barrel.

i’m not sure about the alignment, but i must say welcome to the forums! we’re glad you dropped in!

Thanks for the suggestion, unfortunately on the akv the barrel shoulder is basically internal, only the threads extend out of the gas block area with no shoulder to index off of if I understand you correctly

The Hanhnson Brothers mount will index off the shoulder. It is thin enough to go under the gas block. I personally have this combo and there is a thread on here about it.

Awesome, that looks very promising, I will give that a try, thanks very much!
