If you are looking for cheap ammo, i doubt that is going to happen. Looking at what is available in steel case (7.62x39) AAC is already at the bottom and other steel case has gone up.
Im also wondering about the future of AKs. KUSA had management issues but it doesnt seem that anyone is jumping to scoop up the company. Looking at dealers like Atlantic, which does a lot of AK sales…AK prices seem to keep on rising. Opening the bans on imported stuff would help, but average shooter is probably going to buy a $400 AR instead.

and to add, i dont think we’ll ever see the bans opened up again. if its not a ban here, it could be one from russia too, with the political climates… not to mention as much as i hate to admit it and say it. 5.45x39 and others like 7.62x54r are niche calibers. i just dont see them jumping into the pot making a bunch of niche calibers anytime soon. down the road, maybe 10 years from now, who knows, anythings possible.
Not to beat a dead horse, but its easy to forget that AAC is still focused on PSA’s customer base. That is mainly 9mm and 5.56 and 7.62x39, with the latter probably being significantly less than the former.

Targetsportusa and SGammo have hornady black polymer tip/brass 545 in stock. And for 95 cpr. Certainly a better deal than 80cpr steel case garbage. But still, the lure of the 74 was eating 19cpr steel case. I’d settle for 40 cpr at this point.

40c per round steel case is never coming back, just like $5 boxes of x39 steel is never coming back.

Lack of powder. They are now building a powder plant and will do a restart when it is done. Projection is early 2027.
