AR-V Magazine Catch Issues?

The magazine catch on my AR-V is extremely finicky. The bolt does not like to stay open and it often closes all by itself without me releasing the bolt catch.
It also does it whenever I release the magazine. I will admit, I am using a magpul magazine instead of a PSA one, the issue still occurs whenever I pull the charging handle back and lock the bolt back with no magazine inside of it whatsoever! So I don’t think that this a magazine related issue.

One other thing that I noticed about my AR-V but Im not 100% sure is a problem with it or just a non-issue is that I took it to the range last week and put about 300 rounds of 115gr FMJ through it (and it ran flawlessly btw) is that I noticed on my spent casings that the primer strike is slightly off-center of where it’s supposed to be. Not too sure if it’s a serious issue or even an issue at all since I experienced no jams with the gun but I thought I would mention it if anyone else has experienced this with their gun before. Could it maybe be a sign that my BCG is out of spec? My particular AR-V was purchased back in 2020 so there could be a few QC issues that I may not be aware of, but IDK.

I will be emailing PSA customer service soon to see if I send the gun back to them to get it worked on.

Magpul mags have been known to do that. Floating firing pin will also hit off center.

The best warranty in the business.
You can send the rifle back at any time if need be.
If she is running flawlessly then it’s probably just mags.

i think that its a non issue about the firing pin hitting off center as long as she’s still eatin ammo without issues. otherwise its not too difficult to send it in for warranty either.

i normally run a full psa glock pcc ill collect my casings next time

edit: actually it’s my 16” i dont have an optic for it anymore because im using the old one on a 7.5” that i am converting into 22lr… but i’ll have it spiffy in no time

i can collect casings from my akv tho, it uses the same mags…

I don’t know how off center primer strikes got into the Mag Catch column but it has nothing to do mags. Once the bullet is in the chamber and the bolt is closed the firing pin is on a crash course to the back of the case once the trigger is pulled. Take the bolt out of the upper and check your firing pin, if it is not bent or penned over, but just slightly off center, that is 1000 okay.
