Thanks!! This place seems really great with info!
youāre welcome.
we try to be helpful, and have fun while doing it. all are welcome as long as you love guns⦠but it helps if you like PSA too ![]()
I recently purchased a full PSA build (complete
16.5" upper with stripped lower) and all I have shot so far is the AAC 5.56. I have had nothing but problems with it so far. 200 rounds and every mag has had the same issue, I can fire 1-3 rounds before I get a fail to feed issue. Cycle the bolt, same thing. Only once have I been able to fire more than 5 rounds continuously. I just bought another 500 rounds in the hopes it just needs broken in, but being my first AR, I really have no clue. My most unreliable gun, from new, that Iāve ever had.
In my experience itās not the ammo.
Iām not the best troubleshooter, but you might check a couple things:
- Make sure the BCG is well lubricated and the bolt moves w/o too much force (possibly the buffer tube also). Does it charge relatively smoothly using the charging handle?
- Check the buffer weight and spring - someone here could tell you if itās to heavy/light
If those two things are fine, youāll want a more experienced fixer-upper (lower) than me ![]()
If you can take some high speed video of it cycling focused on the ejection port thereās several people on here that could likely diagnose with that alone. Iāve used everything from a standard carbine buffer to H2 Super 42 and have had no issues with AAC 5.56. Pistol, Carbine, Mid or Rifle length gas system?
Welcome to the forums @Shadowtech !
how wet are you running the gun? and did you clean the gun before you ran it at all? some times some guns need broken in, iād recommend in running it very wet and see if that helps after you clean it of course.
This could be the buffer weight. Anytime Iāve had issues and donāt have an adjustable gas block, changing the buffer weight may be the fix.
Could be your mags bro. I bought 4 brand new Lancer mags for my new 300blk pistol and I was having the same problem. Every 1-3 round I would have feeding issues. I never thought it could have been the mags, since in my mind they were a good brand. But low and behold I switched to Pmags and the problem went away.
I had an issue with Lancer 300BO mags when running supersonic. 1 Failure to feed with every mag.
Then I looked into it and Lancer states their 300 BO mags are for Subs only: Picked up some pmags and have had 0 issues.
Youāre right, I was only using supers when I tested it. Since I didnāt have a suppressor at the time, I wasnāt buying any subs. Lately, Iāve been using the Lancer mags on my Ruger American 300blk and they work just fine on it. Iāll have to give them another try using subs on my pistol, see if they cycle. Thanks for the tip.
Yep amend 2 doesnāt do well either
I mistakenly bought some AOC ammunition the other day.
Instead of going āBang! Bang! Bang!ā it went āDuh! Dehr! Dāoh!ā and when it reached the target, the bullet stopped in front of it and openly wept with its ogive in its handsā¦.
So, I took my pistol to the range today and you were right. The subsonic 300blk ammo cycled perfectly with the Lancer mags, had zero issues. Thanks again for letting me know about that.
