First problems with AAC 5.56 55gr

I’ve got at least a couple thousand (much more actually, just lost count at some point) rounds through my PSA AR and have never had any issues, none. It runs like a fine tuned machine. This last weekend I had 2 FTE and 1 stovepipe with AAC ammo. Never had an issue like this with it before. It jammed my BCG at one point. Here’s what happened to one of the rounds. I hope this was a fluke.

I had that happen more than once in one box of PMC Bronze.

I has issues with this ammo today and go stuck in the BCG had to pry the bcg out. I bought 2000 rounds and this happened twice.

Please provide us some pictures .
How did you have to pry the BCG ?

I had to pry it open with a flat head and a hammer. There was no other way.

Pretty ridiculous I will be calling Palmeto to complain about this. I have 2,000 rounds of this and broke one bcg and other AR bcg just got jammed. Keep in mind I only opened one box of this 2000 rounds.

Ouch.
Maybe @GuitarGuy can point you in the right direction.

That bcg looks dry as a bone. You need to contact CS, or if you can wait on the PSA reps here to get back from the NRA Show then perhaps @Josiah_PSA or @Anthony_PSA can help you out. They will need to know full details…gun, ammo lot # (on box), etc.

Happened again to me this weekend with AAC ammo after a thorough cleaning and oiling. The casings are becoming distorted and not extracting from the chamber. Had to bang mine on the stock and luckily the casing came out otherwise I was going to have to dig it out. When it came out it was distorted. Forgot to take a picture. I’ve put lots of this ammo through my rifle and never had an issue until AAC 5.56 55gr came back into stock and the batch I got has done this multiple times when other ammo I run does not. It was out of stock for a long time and used to be all I got. Now this new batch is not as good as it used to be.

Sure would be good to see a picture. I’m not sure I could help anyway, but the pic would help somebody diagnose it.

same here. Used psa m4 and this gun shoots everything i throw in her including other ammo from psa. The 55gr however has consistent failures to eject and it gets worse the hotter the gun gets after 10-20 rounds or so. So bad that not even my bravo company bcg can get the casing out. I had to get range control to let me use their cleaning rod to get the casing out. The failures to eject and the casing getting stuck in chamber causes the double feeds, dangerous and a waste of money and time. Will not buy 55gr from psa again.

It used to run fine in mine but then it was out of stock for a while and when it came back it had changed. I tried it again and same thing, so they haven’t corrected the issue. Casings seem to expand and get stuck, have to nearly pry them out of the chamber.

Out of my own curiosity do you know what was stamped on the head of the rounds you purchased? @Earthling

I had to use a cleaning rod to get this casing out. Stamped AAC 5.56 NATO

you can see on the curve of the casing the grooves from the star chamber. I’m assuming the case expanded to much causing the issue as it gets worse the hotter the weapon gets

bite marks from extractor unable to pull this casing out due to being stuck in chamber
