Arex Delta Series Of Pistols M, L, X (Slovenia)

Anyone else bite on one of these?
Mine is the “Gen 1”

No but they look very interesting, plus they seem very affordable

I snagged a Gen 1 maybe 4 years ago.

I was not overly impressed with it until I put 500-600+ rounds through it which is pretty much the same round count to break in the trigger of any semi-auto esp. a striker-fired one. The take-up was very gritty and ‘draggy’ but slowly worked itself out. It’s now very crisp and the reset is about 2mm.

It’s slimmer and 2 oz. lighter than a G19. Feels great in the hand and it’s a tack-driver.

It has 2 minor downsides: The first is the recoil spring assembly. The spring is captured on the rod with two polymer spring cups just like a striker assembly. Somewhere down the road one of the cups either came off or disintegrated. Someone was kind enough to send me a couple of replacements gratis. The spring is 17 lbs and I am told that one can readily replace it with any standard recoil spring assembly compatible with the G19. Galloway Precision makes a captured assembly available in a variety of weights and I’m going to get one of those.

The other issue (strictly mine) are the sights. A recessed white dot on the front and blacked out on the rear sort of like Hackathorns. The recessed front dot results in me seeing a half-moon. Annoying. The Gen 1 pistols will take any Sprinfield “XD-M” compatible sights but the front one will need to be peened/dimpled on the bottom as the fit is a bit loose. Loctite to seal it in (I’d use regular strength).

I haven’t yet put NS on it. Considering something from TruGlo. I am also awaiting for COMMS from Global Ordnance (the importer) as to which direction the old sights are driven out.

AREX changed the sight compatibility on the Gen 2 to Sig and I will assume the “8/8” configuration which is standard 9mm/40/357SIG.

Love mine, bought it by accident.:joy: I am a big fan of Slovenian produced Grand Power. I was in my LGS and saw a good looking gun, asked to see it and really liked how it felt in my hand. While I was checking it out I was happy to see that it came from Slovenia. So I filled out the paperwork and as the LGS was running my background check I looked a bit more closely at the gun and to my horror realized that the gun was not made by the fine craftsmen of Slovenia, but came from Slovakia. I didn’t know anything about Slovakian firearms! Well I was to far into the process to stop, so I figured I would just have to give the gun a try and man am I glad I did.

The gun shot well and the trigger was a polymer striker fired trigger, though better than many I had tried. The takedown was easy the ergos felt good. After shooting a hundred rounds or so, it became my summer carry. Up to this point I had never carried a 9mm for EDC. I had always carried 45apc or 10mm, this gun felt so good and shot so well that for several years it was in strong EDC rotation ( though now I am back to carrying 10mm daily, this time a S&W M&P 2.0 4.6 10mm). I am really leaning towards getting an optic cut Gen 2 Delta and moving it into my rotation again. They are just so thin and easy to carry and the quality is superb, especially for the price.

Rob:

You gots your Slovakia and Slovenia’s mixed up  But we understand.

Did you put night sights on your Delta?

I didn’t Sir, but I the sights are why I’m contemplating a Gen 2, for the optics cut. I’m running more of my pistols with red dots these days. Since my eyes aren’t getting any younger, an optic cut is becoming more and more a mandatory option

“Bought it by accident” :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

“I didn’t MEAN TO buy another gun Dear - it just followed me out to the Truck!”
