Brass hitting me in head when ejecting

I was wondering i dont think it would be normal for the dagger to be ejecting the brass like every other one ejects straight up in the air cause it to hit me in the head an what not so is this a issue …i mean i deff dont like the brass hitting me but anyways an when i cycle the round it throws it like backwards to me any help with whats going on an also looking to get a p80 flat face trigger where is the best place to order 1 ?? For money wise an shipping times

Brass hitting you in the face happens with many handguns. There are a wide variety of reasons:

-weak ammo, try another brand
-extractor, ejector, or trigger housing
-bad grip, grip as high as you can, lean into it a little
-no lube (unlikely)
-too stiff recoil spring

You may need to just try one at a time and go from there. I would start with different ammo first.

I am also having an issue like this. A weak ejection that sends the shell in different directions. Sometimes the shell went forward, sometimes straight back at me and sometimes to the rear right but not very far. I found that when my drive hand was more relaxed the casing would eject forward. When my drive hand was firm and pulling back into the pistol the casing ejected rear and to the right. I didn’t have it eject straight back enough to figure out what was doing that but I’m sure it has something to do with grip.

I have a drill I do where I load a round and then remove the mag. I can then fire a round and the pistol resets and I can fire a dry chamber and it lets me know if I’m flinching. The last time I was shooting I was doing some of this drill and I had 2 casings come out the mag well instead of ejecting to the side. Very strange. These are reloads but they aren’t weak.

This pistol isn’t “broken in” yet so I figured I would do some more shooting and get some factory ammo just to check to see if it might be my reloads.

Okay thank you i have alot of diffrent ammo 115 grain an 124 grain im try each kind an see the resutls an should i take a pucture of the internals to show to see if anything to yall looks offf???..an i really do appercaite all the time that is put into help me figure out this situation!!

@jordansuarez9124 My Dagger was doing that, I put a factory glock gen 5 ejector in it, problem solved, throws at 4 oclock. The gen 3 ejectors like the one in the dagger were known for the issue your having. Glock part number for gen 5 ejector is 47021.

Thanks so much that helps out alot!!!

@jordansuarez9124 No problem

I just got back from the range. Shot my new Dagger and about 10 to 20 percent started coming back towards me after about the third magazine. Couple landed on my shoulder, couple on top my head and two hit my nose. I thought about this thread right away lol.

Not a big deal. I just pretended the brass gods were sending me gifts from above :innocent:

I might correct the issue anyways because I know the wife won’t like it if she shoots the Dagger

Did you just replace the ejector bar or did you use the housing also?

Hahah well I’m glad this may have helped a lil!!!

@Spider1 just the ejector, a gen 5 housing will not work, and the ejector is easy to replace if you know how to get the trigger assembly out and apart.

I put in an order for the ejector housing and ejector bar #47021. Should be here on Tuesday so after I get that switched out I’ll take it to the range and report any changes I see.

You didn’t really need a new housing.

Get a Brass Catcher from that other Thread, and Mount it to a Trucker Hat….

no, but I looked for an ejector by itself and couldn’t find one. I had to buy the housing and ejector together. At Glock they wanted somewhere around $25 for the housing and ejector + shipping. I found one ad MDX for under $9 and with shipping it was under $19. Can’t wait to see what I actually bought,

You’re going to have to pull the ejector out of a Gen 5 housing and put it in your gen 3

yep.

well I’ll be. They said it would be here on Tuesday and I just got it in the mail a few minutes ago. Yep, it’s the right part, all is good so far. I guess the lawn is just gonna have to wait. I got some important work to do! :hammer_and_wrench:

update-
well I guess I’ll be doing the lawn after all. Took about 5 minutes to get this done. I knocked out the rear most roll pin that holds the housing and it was able to come up enough to work on. Had to tap the old ejector out with a .050 punch. The new ejector came out of it’s housing a bit easier, I pulled it out with my fingers and pushed it into the housing on the pistol as easily. Put housing unit back in and tapped the roll pin into place and checked the function. All good so far. I ran a few rounds through it and they ejected nicely to the side. I’ll take it to the range tomorrow morning and give it a proper test.
