ATF and the folding stock on the AKV

Forgive me if this belongs in another thread but I have noticed on PSA’s website that you can buy a AKV pistol and is in stock but the folding braces and or AKV’s with any other braces have been pulled temporarily. My question is if I removed my triangle folding brace, will the AKV be exempt from any kind of gun ban. I’m only asking this because it was sold by PSA as a pistol and FFL Identified it as a pistol at transfer. Is the AKV without a brace considered a NFA item being a pistol?

The information that the FFL logged it with stays with the FFL. The ATF has no idea what you have. They have no idea what anybody has.

That’s why they are pushing for registration. So they can find out who has what.

The ATF guidelines say you can remove the brace amd destroy it per the recent info. FWIW, lawsuits have already been filed.

Hoping those lawsuits get wings because an awful lot of folks are hanging in the wind right now.

I quick glance at places like armslist and gunbroker show plenty of “illegal” SBRs already out there in the wild. Although the gun community is on this, I know plenty of folks with braces that do not visit gun websites. There will be plenty of disobedience solely because they don’t know.

I’m in Las Vegas although surrounded by hundreds of miles of desert I still go to the county shooting range which is cool , you can have a machine gun there no problem. My point was the ATF rodents will be lurking and that’s a stiff fine .

The fine would be the least of my worries; the vacation in your local prison system would be at the top of the list.

That hanging is Intentional - but if it was a Surprise to anyone, then they just have not been paying attention to the AFT for any of the last three Decades…
