Belt wise, I’ve been wearing Hanks for a few years. I have the Gunner and the Gunner Stitched. Both well worth the money (although you can usually catch a sale).
Holster wise I am partial to Galco and Crossbreed.
For work I have to wear a polo and slacks so not the easiest to conceal carry. I have a Ruger 380 LCP MAX and the pocket holster it came with for the back and forth to work.
Getting used to the skullhead IWB for my dagger with a regular belt for weekends etc.
I use a BigFoot Leather Gun Belt with steel core. For a CC holster I use anything from a jacket pocket or jean pocket or 1791 or Galco or DeSantis or Aliengear…holster configuration is almost endless. I am partial to open top for my revolvers and thumb breaks for everything else sitting on my hip. I’m paranoid like that.
I need a belt and holster, and I’m leaning towards OWB for concealed carry. I’m a big guy, 45 minute commute each way, I’m leaning towards leather, looking to carry around 3-4:30ish.
So many choices, so worried about making the wrong decision.
CC is not a one size fits all. Some folks prefer apendix carry….while some cannot carry it that way. Some like 3 o’clock carry….some find it uncomfortable. Getting a good CC rig is a trial and learning process.
One thing is for certain….don’t buy “cheap” one size fits all holsters and expect to get good Concealment….or good Carry. Holsters for CC and location of the holster on your body will vary with each individual depending on the type / size of gun carried….and your body build. Don’t buy a holster just because it looks good. The holster has to “Carry” good also ! The weight / balance of the gun should be distributed evenly so the pistol does not flop around or poke out obscenely……yet it should still afford you a secure grip to draw it if needed. If you have the luxury of looking at other guys CC rigs……and (most importantly) shooting with them on the range….you should try out as many different methods as possible. Once you find out what method works best for you….to CC…and….drawing it and shooting it…(including re-holstering)…then begin your search for the holster you like that meet your liking. Kydex, leather or a mix of both…whatever you prefer…doesn’t matter. What is important is that your comfortable wearing it. A good belt is a PLUS….But….you can do a good CC in comfort with a mediocre belt……as long as you have a good holster. But you can have the best CC belt….and if your holster is not up to the task………we’ll there are too many things to go wrong to write about it here. Try out different CC holsters if you can…for fit, carry and comfort. Then go to a range and shoot with that holster…evaluate how it works out for you.
Toughest decision I make daily is what to wear for work……
But my CC is consistently right hip 3 or 4 o’clock carry. Depending on my clothing will determine if it’s going to be leather or kydex……& inside the Waistband carry or outside waistband carry
You will notice that on the IWB holsters……the belt hook is on the grip side of center. Having it on the grip side ……as opposed to center….pulls the grip of the pistol in……against the side of your body….so it is not sticking out (printing) drawing unnecessary attention to it.
I have been wearing the Magpul Tejas since they first came out. I thought at some point it would start to sag, but nothing of the sort. And I carry a Sig P938 - not the lightest pistol out there being all-metal.
I’ve been using the next belt for two years now and I would recommend it to everyone that carries. Holster that I use is teir 1 concealment. Appendix carry is by far the way to go, for me. Doesn’t work for everyone.
I looked at the “Next” belt you recommended. I use a lot of CC gear professionally……Iam impressed with the belt. I can’t wait to get my own to try it out. Thanks
One is blade tech….it’s agency issued….Iam not sure if the are available anymore
The other one is a “Garrett”. Leather lined Kydex. Good holsters…great customer service.
