Are there any plans to release a buferless BCG conversion kit for the AR platform?
Something that would eliminate the buffer tube and the need for a brace?
This would be good for all AR pistols using any style buffer brace.
I love that idea! Id love to see that come to fruition
so basically you’re asking for psa to make a piston driven conversion kit to get rid of the buffer or direct impingement gas system so that you wouldnt need the buffer ans spring to fire the weapon any longer.
I believe that there was a kit out there already by Adams Arms, and a quick google shows there are many other companies out there with kits, or sites carrying the adams arms kit itself. Midway shows the kit at around 300 bucks. that said, i do not know or think that PSA has any plans to produce a kit like this at this time.
I just thought that with so many SBR’s that we are going to have now that the ATF has decided that any extension such as a buffer tube or brace will make any AR pistol into an SBR. The bufferless BCG would make for a very good alternative and fix.
I see other manufacturers bringing them on and promoting them. Some are selling their full uppers with a lower conversion kit that eliminates the buffer tube.
I just thought that I would bring it up and see what PSA could do or is willing to do. I am sure there are many thousands of AR style pistols out there with less than 16" barrels.
well of course if you really wanna just do away with it entirely and not mess with having to convert yourss there is always the PSA Jakl series.
that should fix you right up ![]()
If you don’t mind adding a folding stock, I believe the Law Tactical ARIC would allow you to ditch the buffer weight and spring?
Edit- Law Tactical’s website says they have developed pic rail mounts to use instead of folding adapters for pistols if I’m reading it right.
Sounds great, but IL stopped us from by parts that can fix our currently now illegal guns lol life keeps getting better
Law Tactical has a bolt carrier that works with their folder, and allows the weapon to fire folded.
It eliminates the buffer and spring. Not sure if you could remove the tube and brace, but I’m pretty sure you can.
It’s pricy, the bolt carrier group is just under $400. And you still need the folder.
The good news is that IL is surrounded by free states.
I need a JAKL in 9MM!
Would be nice if Sylvan went that route with a BCG.
I need all the jakls.
There is a company doing this !(ready but like most things,1.its new so 0 feedback about how actually works, and its expensive as all hell… ive still been thinking about it,but i can see this tu ing i to *I should have just bought a sig mcx/mpx whatevet it is im having a brain fart
there are many affordable bufferless systems out there, it gets pretty crazy but, i want a rear charging handle… if i lived in a state like CA a bufferless 556 pistol would be very ideal those pistol tubes are very dangerous! i highly advise using any brace or stabilizer for your own safety
Seems I’m late to the discusion, as usual. I just discovered that PSA has a forum.
The type gas system type has little to do with the recoil system. For example, you can buy:
-direct impingement (aka internal piston) guns from Foxtrot Mike with no buffer tube (the recoil system is above the barrel, like an AK or AR-18).
-long-stroke piston guns that use the normal buffer tube from Primary Weapons Systems.
-long-stroke piston guns without the normal buffer tube from Kel-Tec (recoil system above barrel).
-short-stroke piston guns that use the normal buffer tube from Adams Arms.
-short-stroke piston guns without the normal buffer tube from SIG Sauer or Brownells.
To get rid of the buffer tube, you need to relocate the recoil system.
Another way to do this is to modify the BCG, a la the Law Tactical ARIC (mentioned elsewhere here) which also requires the Law Tactical folder (a $600+ combination).
ETA: Oops! How could I omit the Jakl?
“Edit- Law Tactical’s website says they have developed pic rail mounts to use instead of folding adapters for pistols if I’m reading it right.”
I can’t find this info. Can you please post a link (if you’re still watching this thread)? It would save $300.
I’m all about seeing more innovation from PSA, even if its just their take on an AR15 piston conversion but that said, I’ve fallen in love with my jakl. I know it isn’t apples to apples but just wanted to throw that in there.
I’d seen that but it didn’t sound like a real product (yet).
