Bug out bag/ shtf gear

In the South they would have cracked beers and got drunk around a bonfire on the side of the road.

OFF the side of the road in the ditch. Most Southerners can’t drive if we get snow flakes  but yes you got the rest figured out.

@California_Refugee

You ain’t lyin!!! Southerners can’t drive regardless of weathe conditions

I had to drive a co-worker back and forth for over a week years ago when we had a storm here in the upstate years ago. Strange thing was Dawn was from MO or something like that.

Got news for ya Rufus, most Mo drivers can’t drive for spit in the snow either and feel the need to get out on the road as soon as it starts coming down good.

Act accordingly.

One thing I don’t have in my BOB yet is a fishing yo-yo. I have my kit geared toward a system, and part of that is being ready to catch very small fish to use as bait. I think a yo-yo will work much better at setting a hook than tying off to a limb, especially when I may be in a spot where there are no limbs. I mean, I have the smallest hooks I could find. I can catch minnows, which are pretty good for catching pretty much anything else, even birds and land critters.

I picked up one of those from exotac. I haven’t tried it yet, but I will eventually!

Doesn’t apply to me. My days would be numbered without electricity or climate control. So it would be best I stay home. If I had to get out on the road I am going deeper into the woods.

That X-Reel looks like a good pocket kit. One thing I don’t actually have is a reel of any kind. I DO have a couple of those micro-fishing rods (a Dock Demon and the Shakespeare version). I should put some kind of hobo reel together. I also have a small cast net that isn’t in my BOB, but I SHOULD keep it close, because cast nets can get fish fast, and I ain’t bugging out on foot, anyway, so the weight isn’t an issue. There’s a park with two small boat ramps by my house where I could probably pull up enough small panfish to fill two skillets in 10 minutes.

The only thing I have so far is an ouch pouch

A journey of a thousand miles. If you are on a tight budget, try One Thief Surplus for pouches and such.

Arcturus myar tarp (aka military casualty blanket). Added some mossy oak camo netting.

Added 2 × 5 foot guy lines to 1 end, then 2 × 4 foot lines with bungee cord on the other.

Those look nice, and they have a good color selection.

Good luck with that!

I put some rustoleum rattle can on the coyote brown tarp. Gave a better depth of appearance.

Good to know that works. I have a few cans in camo colors.

Some stuff to carry/edc.

Sharpening stone ferro rod & ceramic scraper/striker.

Not for everyone and backups to other stuff in my pockets most days.

That works!!
