What brand is the stone? That looks handy and my pockets are full.
@useful.easy.address
Big Tee
The stone is the less expensive plain model (lacks the more figured inclusions of the nicer stone).
Wazoo Survival gear. Leather lace got treated with a leather conditioner I have.
Wazoo Viking Whetstone Pendant | Knife Sharpener Necklace | Arkansas Novaculite on Leather Cord | Norse Inspired Knotwork Amazon.com
Only thing I have for EDC so far is my knife. Going to be getting a p320 soon and that will be my edc. I dont like small/compact pistols. full size all day baby
Part of my go kit but not currently in my bag, which is too small.
Florida Atlas
Florida folding map
8"x10" Fresnel lens
Bubble mailer
Mylar zip bag
The mailer is to protect the Fresnel. The Wallaby 1gal bags come in this bag, which fits all this stuff perfectly.
I have a laminated folding county map in my kit, which is vital IMHO. I’ve lived in this county since birth, but the lay of the land holds hundreds of dead ends, and lends itself to at least as many bottlenecks. And I can’t memorize them all. I tried.
Still too young to die but too old to take an a$$ whipping so stocked on ammo maintaining the shooting eyes
along these lines does anyone know where you can buy the 48X36 military style grid maps
@foley_rules
Pre-printed (USGS grid) or custom printed (maps that cover the between map area, or centered on a preferred location).
I found a downloadable source online. I still prefer a printed map.
CAPgrids | Civil Air Patrol Emergency Services
AH yeah there we go thanks so much now just gotta narrow down main areas to map
How goes it with the mapmaking?
I bought one of the gazettteer books for the entire state and I have a neighbor looking through some of his old stuff he said he had a few military maps of the area will see what he turns up
- 35 mph winds today…
Pulled the stock awning on our in use eze- up, put up an Arcturus mylar tarp (5’ by 7’ appropriate size). 1 long end has 2 × bungee cord strain relief with 4’ stactic tie off. Other long side has 2 × fixed 5’ stactic lines.
Anything in wind sacts as a sail, as in sailboat sail. Removing the 4 sides that catch wind and moving to a flat tarp resulted in zero lateral torque to the eze-up frame. Tarp moves 6-9" verticle in high wind gusts, with no audible pops in tarp tension
This falls into high wind middigation, a normal part of our yearly weather cycle in the southwest.
Shortly after putting my own kit together, I bought a couple of theses which are kind of pricey, but fantastic kits.

I’ve gotten on a Olight kick for reliable edc lights.
The black light is out of production, bought 7-8 years or more back, carried daily for 18+ months as an emt. I lost count of how many times I dropped it on concrete either on a 911 call or on my off days. It still works.
The green with gold trim is the current production Baton 4. Im very happy with this light.
I have a few others and just made a large for me purchase for some other option.
I own Surefire, Streamlight and some Chinese lights. Price wise the Olight offering give a lot of bang for my hard earned dollars.
Olight has a lifetime warranty on their lights. I used the surfire warranty on my E2D when I broke the pocket clip 18+ years back.
I see PSA is selling some Olights now. I have some Oclip Pro lights clipped to a pack and the outside of the gun safe. Not a huge run time on high, but it will clip into mollie, a t-shirt collar or pocket (to face forward), and has a decent magnet built into the clip. It is a USB-C charge connection, with flood light & spotlight in cool wite & a red led emmiter. I’ve used my 1st one enough to have picked up a second one.
I also have a Warrior mini 3, as a inexpensive tactical light. This one is a dual switch, tail cap direct 500 or 1,750 lumen (progessive 2 stage switch), and a side switch for administrative lower settings.
I have several other lights on order, and will update with my observations.
Just thought I would share many years of positive experience with the Olight brand.
Very nice, where can I get one?
@coolwin1776
I got this on on the olight application. They ran a 4th of July sale. Might check amazon but no engraving option that I have seen.
PSA may sell this model also.
Those tiger paws are supposed to be orange…
