Biden banned Russian ammo imports. F*** Biden
Already seeing sold out in most places, including here
I only buy brass, because that is all I can shoot at my local ranges, but itās going up too. All the people that would have bought steel are now buying brass. Expect all calibers to go back up as a result of this.
I heard it was a ban on new contracts and that existing import contracts were still ok. Dunno. I sure wonāt be getting chinese x39ās, that stuff locks up my rifle every time. Iāve been thinking about starting to reload 7.62ās, might be a good time to get some dies and bulk up on brass. Then I just gotta get lucky and find some primers.
My understanding is every separate import requires a distinct permit, so once the stuff in the pipeline drys up itās gone.
Agreed
putting in an order for dies tonight. Now I gotta find a source for primersā¦
if you find that let us know! they are rarer than unicorns lately, except BMG primers.
LOL! I found cci #41 at Brownells for $95 a brick last night. I put it in my basket and looked for any coupon codes to help with shipping. Didnāt find any so I decided to just pay it and went to checkout⦠back ordered. 5 minutes looking for a code and they were gone. Thatās what I get. Next time Iāll just grab them. I went to my local supply place last week and was happy to pay $14 for a single pack of BR-4.
Got out to a later start than I would have liked. First Academy had nothing. Not even a box of 20. Had spam cans just the other day. I did get my limit four of 7.62x54 for somebody I know. Then went to the most reliable Academy I know (maybe in the whole country) and they still had lots of 20 round boxes, no spam cans, but several 100 round boxes. Got that limit.
I like the yugo surplus. Its brass and cycles perfect. Picked up 960rounds (they only sell 24 boxes 40/box) from Steel City Ammo last week. They sent out a forum letter to state that they were oerwhelmed with orders last weekend. $0.52/rd
To Our Valued Customer:
We want to very first start off by saying thank you for an amazing weekend, even with some of the technical difficulties we had with the website and the credit card system. We had over 2000 orders in a 3-day span which is a record weekend for us, and we canāt say thank you enough. .
Only problem I have with Yugo surplus, is the fact that itās corrosive. While I clean my weapons after every use, I cringe at the thought of corrosive ammo.
Same here. I have no problem buying other than Russian stuff but the Yugo stuff I avoid
I just put in an order for 250 brass casings. That should last a while and give me something to do in the evenings!
I thought I would post what brass cased ammo I have tried for those you not used to buying it. S&B, Prvi Partizan (PPU), Fiocchi, Belom, Norma, Geco and Igman (new production non corrosive). I have some Mesko on order, but it hasnāt shipped yet. None of them have given me any troubles, other than one rotated primer. Canāt even remember which brand it was.
I saw Import 7.62 rise 20% overnight on the announcement. Didnāt matter if Russian, Yugo, or Czech.
Stupidity Abounds.
Politicians be like: āIāll show you pesky Russia. Iāll ban your ammunition and punish American shooters who shoot 7.62 x 39ā There is something mentally wrong with our civilian leadership.
In 2017/18, Midsouth Shooters had a sale on Lake City pull down brass. Primed 308 & 5.56.
308 was LC17 & LC 18. Batches of 250, maybe 20 cents each.
Bought 4 of the 308 (or maybe itās officially 7.62x51) and 3 of the 5.56.
Itās interesting what bullets end up shooting the best.
Today I got 4 out of 4 shooting the steel at 400 yards, using Accurate 2200 and the Hornady 150 grain Full Metal Jacket. BC about .395.
I expect the higher BC bullets to āshoot betterā, but when I have best results with a particular combo ⦠hard to ignore that !
I suggest checking out garage sales on Craigslist.
They canāt advertise firearms stuff - but some of them are selling bullets etc.
Also, the bulletin board at the local range.
I bought 2 bricks of 1000 primers from 2 different guys. One had a classic collection of IMR 7828 full size, in the metal can, etc.
