Can't install a Rearden PRS on a PSA Gen2 PA10- what are other good options?

I bought a Rearden PRS (sku 10138 .375 bore 5/8x24 threads) muzzle brake online for my AR-10. Unfortunately my gunsmith tells me the Muzzle device is not compatible with my barrel - the barrel doesn’t have the square shoulder needed for this PRS. He says he bent/ruined a couple shims trying to install this.

Is there a Rearden Plan B/HUB device that would work here? Or a different Plan B muzzle Device manufacturer?

Or should I abandon all hope of mounting my CAT ODB HUB with Rearden Gen 2 Atlas adapter onto this barrel?

Rifle upper is a PSA Gen2 PA10 18" Midlength .308 WIN 1:10 Stainless Steel 15" M-lok Lightweight Upper - With BCG and CH - 516447548, purchased in 2019

Wait…how did he bend the shims? It isnt hard to install a muzzle device and that reardon should be fine. Did he torque it over the recommended 30 ft lbs???

That muzzle device is made for big thick barrels but can work on smaller diameter ones also.

maybe find a flash hider style so it doesnt have to be timed, only reason i see him attempting shimming

I think the issue is that the shoulder is tiny and isn’t square, it has this weird partial taper. Not sure if that’s just how Gen2 barrels are cut, or if I got a bad barrel.

I got a recommendation to try a Comstock Armory Facemount muzzle brake (untimed). Not sure about this but it’s the simplest solution I’ve seen so far. That way the device doesn’t interact with the crappy shoulder. Just not excited to go drop another $80 on a new muzzle device…
