Hello!
New Glock owner here. Saw the cerakote finish and decided, because I can. This will not be my edc, however I would like an owb for it. I also have already added a tlr 6. Holster options seem to be pretty limited with the tlr 6.
Does anyone have experience with or opinions on lining for kydex, or anything like that to reduce the inevitable wear on the cerakote? I’d like a nice owb to show this new tool off when the proper occasion calls for it to be added to my tool belt.
Thanks in advance
Check “Garrett” holsters. They make kydex holsters that are lined with leather. They have GREAT customer service. I have two of their holsters both lined with leather….and there is no noticeable wear on the finish of the pistol….after 5 years now. My pistol is nitride coated….not ceracoated……so I am not sure how the ceracoat finish will resist wear
I use AlienGear for all my guns, and I will say, it is quick to scrape up the cerakote on the front of the slide. I thought it was a little tougher than it was so I’ll be giving up using it as my EDC but that’s gonna be tough… it’s my first Glock and I love carrying it! So yeah, get an AlienGear core carry pack because it’s a great ■■■■■■■ system, but don’t put any cerakoted guns inside them.
thats a beautiful gun there. i’d want a holster that would show off much of it as possible… and maybe even have the holster done up sin. a similar pattern… just a thought… you may need to go custom.
I haven’t been to a fun show in a few years, but I picked up a sweet custom IWB holster the last time I went. Pretty dang cheap really, was about the cost of a low-mid priced one but WAY better quality. You might try there if you have a decent local fun show soon, find the vendor who has the best stuff and is local, and talk to him there or at least get a business card.
you’re welcome. unfortunately i have no idea who to go for custom holsters. Im sure you can probably find some by googling…i’d bet they’d be in more of the leather work side of things than anything else. Kydex raw, i would think would be rougher on its finish than leather would be… but not saying leather is perfect either.
I appreciate the suggestions pointing me to garret industries. I received a leather lined holster earlier this week. This is the finest quality of kydex I have seen yet to date. The craftsmanship is exquisite. The craftsmanship is the finest I have seen. The lines are clean and tight. I cannot say enough. I truly feel I have received the best for my money all the way around from this purchase. Its early to tell with the leather lining, but I can tell up front I will love it. I truly look forward to proudly carrying this fine piece of craftsmanship. Maybe I’ll find an artist to match the cerakote for me!
