When Colorado tried an "Assault weapon ban " in 2013 I bought my 1st AR just to have a dog in the fight. I also drove to salt lake just before the magazine ban with some other guys (anything you owned at the start of the ban was Grandfathered) because Colorado was nearly sold out of mags.
Between us we bought about $3,000 worth of mags, I bought mags for guns I didn’t even own yet (AK mags for one)
Magpul was in Colorado, before the ban. Should have hit their factory up because they closed the doors and moved to Texas I think. I support and buy many Magpul things just for that, like my RXM Ruger I bought all the Magpul colors for the frame, from Magpul which cost me like 3 more dollars per frame. Sometimes I just silently support things with my money. I didn’t need 3 extra lower frames but they are cool, FDE, Black and ODG.
It was a S*** show in Colorado back then, Magpul WAS selling but Nobody was keeping up with demand. The drive to Salt lake was 100% worth it. Things like surplus AK mags were just gone inside our state, where as I found a box full of cheep surplus AK mag on a dusty shelf in Utah.
CT was a great place to live in 1985. In 1986 the enemy (leftists) got control and ruined it in a few years. All the gun ban stuff mentioned above was done there as well. It’s to eventually disarm the future serfs, not for crime. I got out after folks started trying to get “red flag” confiscations done on me. Escaped to WV and feel like I’m in a different country; what a relief. Cost of living in CT skyrocketed as well due to the taxes. Harassment and vandalism also became an increasing problem due to the “crime” of disagreeing with the left.
