Compensator help

Hello all,
Tried a zev compensator on my dagger, had many failure to feeds, stovepiping etc. Zero problems with the comp removed. Anybody have any advice? Stonger recoil spring?

Thanks

Yep, if you want to hang that kind of weight off the end you need different springs.

a real pound answer from someone please

I dont know what pound you have…so i cant give you a specific. My recommendation is to buy several wolff springs (heavier and lighter) and see what works with your specific setup (gun+comp+ammo).

I’d have to say Guitar guy is right here… Insufficient information to help really…
why do you need a compensator anyways what are you doing to need it?

I’m having the same issue, but I’m using a Agency Arms 417 and brownell’s threaded barrel. Been talking with Agency Arms about it. My issue is that comp, has two holes (in case I wanted to run a front sight post on it), it runs out of real estate before it can cover the two holes. I have some measurements, I need a total of .700" from slide to end of barrel for mine to work, currently at .589". So when I do get the comp on all the way the barrel will not lock in. I’m still looking for a solution…

One of the items mentioned also by Agency Arms, was slide measurements, I only have a gen4 to based off my measurements:
barrel lock to end of slide:
gen 4 - 2.684"
dagger - 2.704"

so for my comp to work I need to find a way to lose 0.058" from the slide or find a barrel that will give me additional .0058"

I have OEM spring, Rival Arms, 13lb, and a 11lb. shot 115, 124, 147gr.

So here is probably the unpopular question…why do you need a comp? Are you doing 3 gun matches or similar competitions? Is it the “cool look” factor? Something else?

actually i was wondering the exact thing… what is the purpose of the compensator? i didnt know that folks use it for 3 gun, or any other competitions… what exactly does it do? what is its purpose? etc… please folks enlighten me.

Don’t “need” it, Bought it mostly as a range toy to make mods to that I wouldn’t do to my defensive guns.

<Argh! Misread thread :frowning: Going back to sleep…>

Can anyone say Roland Special? The comp is not just for looks, competition, or range queen. It’s another tool in the toolbox. This almost sounds like getting red dots on pistols and once you have it, you understand why people are doing it.

Idk, i use suppressors.:wink::rofl::rofl::rofl:

possibly, but from my point of observation on the guns that i see people putting compensators on , folks are not doing it for any of those reasons, they’re doing it cause it in their mind “looks cool”

this is why i asked what purpose do they serve on the pistol. what do they do to competitions to make you need one? why are they so needed on your range queen guns? and well the looks is argumentative depending on your point of view.

im not sure if it really is another “tool” in the toolbox, because after all, tools must serve a need/they have a purpose as to why they are used. and so far in my mind Compensators on a pistol just really dont.

But you are already pre-judging based on what you say, " some folks are out for the ‘looks cool’". Is it a pain in the ass? sure is, since I have pretty much have to look at open end holsters or G34 holsters, but the Juice is worth the squeeze with Comps and RDS.

It is a tool in the toolbox, if you don’t train or understand the fundamentals, then it might as well be a hammer.

Once I get mine sorted out, it will be my edc. Compensator = recoil management, faster follow-on shots. That alone is enough reason to get one, but like the part I said first, if you don’t train or understand fundamentals, then it might as well be a hammer.

alright, now that someone has stated what the actual reasons are to get a comp, i can understand why its important to have it function properly. i can get behind it for that reason as well. it makes sense to want it on your firearm then.

I agree you’d have to train with it to have any benifit from it, much like anything else, you need to train with it to use it properly. so we are in agree ment here as well.

thanks for clearing things up some.

Ok, imma pull this thread back up and dust the webs off. I’m looking for a compensator for my dagger, actually my wife’s dagger. Something that’ll help with recoil. Can anyone point me in the right direction. It honestly doesn’t need to be fancy, just helpful.

Brother l got it out of the safe to show you a pic of this little comp when l got home. Effective, no B/S compensator when timed. Happy operator for what you pay for. I run several styles of comps from Strike industries, AR and pistol. Happy, happy, happy.
