Well my oldest daughter (vaccinated) just popped positive. She has been at school all week but has been wearing a mask. Hopefully her symptoms are as mild as mine were.
Update
Today is a mixed bag, one step forward, two steps back.
They have to keep adjusting his oxygen and they were supposed to turn down the sedation a little more today.
Slow baby steps to improvement.
Then I asked about his previous infection that was inhibiting recovery…
No fever. I think the infection has gotten better. He had his eyes open for nurse all night. So he is waking up some from the sedation but generating some high pressures on ventilator when he’s breathing on his own. He collapsed one of his lungs when he did that so they had to put a chest tube in to reexpand his lung. Poor guy he gets one thing going good then he can’t catch a break. I’m praying that it will warm up tomorrow so I can go th Charleston to see him this weekend. Its sleeting here at the house.
Let’s hope your weather cooperates and she can make the drive and spend the weekend with him.
Dang man i hate to hear this. i’ll pray she gets well fast, and that her symptoms are not bad.
@rockymountainjeep thanks again for the update. I’ll pray she can make it down to see him. i hate that its one step forward two back… sometime though that happens… I’ll continue to pray for his fast recovery.
again, thanks for keeping us updated.
I hate it too
He can’t seem to catch a break
She mentioned having the PO Box set up sometime next week
awesome about the po box… i know we’re still waiting to hear back from psa folks. or at least that was the last i heard of it
I really appreciate everything. You have taken on…the lead…as a link between the forum members and Greg.
You are showing why you are one of the best people on this forum……and this forum is comprised of some of the best……most involved people I have ever participated with.
I am grateful for your efforts.
Thank you.
I am hopeful for Greg and praying for his return to his life.
I check in everyday, but just try not to comment too much. Greg, wanted you to have something to look at when you get back besides all the well wishes and prayers. Restoring my grandfather’s old ~1933 Sears Ranger Shotgun, modeled after the 1905 John Browning Patent. Broken firing pin has been found and ordered. This one hasn’t been touched in a really long time. Matching serial number on all the parts from the trigger to the buttstock. Found about 10 places so far.
thats pretty cool about the serial number and that youve found the broken firing pin and ordered a replacement… i bet once you get it up and back together itll shoot great.
Well guys good news today, my insurance company was looking at my progress and wanted to send me home early. I don’t want to leave early. My Doctor and the Insurance Company’s Doctor had a conference and today they approved me to stay in physical rehab until the 13th. After thst I will go home with my mother.
My Dad had Parkinsons disease so Mom’,s house is already equiped for wheel chair use and grab bars in the walk in shower. I am going to need someone with me 24/7 for awhile until I am more independent. My wife still has to work so I am lucky to have someone look after me. My Mom and I are close so we enjoy spending time together.
Today in physical therapy I walked 150 ft. with a walker, the longest so far. I stood for 10 mins. and my previous record was 5 mins. I am finally seeing progress. I have been giving 110% in physical therapy and all the therapist are amazed at how far I have come in a relatively short amout of time.
My Achilles heel is still my lungs. We are trying to wean me down off oxygen but right now I am on 4 liters of O2 when resting in my room and 6 liters of O2 when doing physical therapy. Right now if my O2 stopped I would suffocate within a few minutes. It isn’t fun realizing that your life depends on a small plastic tube.
I would like to thank everyone on the forum for the thoughts, prayers and posts. It really has lifted my spirits knowing that you guys were in my corner. I am sorry about not posting but my hand coordination is off and my hands are weak making it take 5x as long to type a text as normal.
Great news! Wish you continued success with your rehab.
IMPRESSIVE!
Once a soldier……always a fighter. Those doctors and Rehab specialist are accustomed to helping 99%………Your the 1%……who is willing to face challenges that you must and you have the determination and tenacity to overcome and win whatever challenge you face.
Happy to hear that the specialists feel you are improving at a rate faster than they expected.
Hang in there Brother……this is a marathon……pace yourself……the finish line is out there. You get there……when you get there……at your pace.
It was a happy occasion to see your post today and earlier. Thank God for your continued healing - I think I can safely say that there were a lot of prayers.
Thank you for keeping us updated! Good news has an uplifting effect!
Thank God, glad to have you back. Please just don’t be in too much of a hurry like my friend that had open heart surgery, in the hospital for 2 months and tried to edge the yard a week after he got home. He only made it to his shed before he went back inside. Prayers are with you Greg.
Definitely glad you’re back, no matter at what intensity. Your situation was a litmus test of the community and I, for one, am encouraged by what I saw.
Echoing others, don’t push it for our sakes. Take the time you need to heal. The dependence on the tubes may be frustrating, but it sounds like you’re already on the road to doing without them. Thanks for posting the updates, and thanks for letting rocky post during your treatment.
PTL ! So great to hear (see) your personal thoughts among us again! You are so blessed to have a Mom like that and she is truly blessed to have a son like you-(sounds like a wonderful Wife also!) Take one step at a time and looking forward to your next post. Please give your Mama a big hug and kiss and tell her that it is from me- and Inga sends a big lick! ( You will have to refer back to one my earlier posts to understand that last line )
Take it slow and easy brother. God’s got your back.
Incredible
glad you’re coming along
This is good news. I’m glad you are recovering so strongly now. Keep the ball rolling
@1911 we are so happy to see you post up you just dont know. Its ok that it takes you a long time to post, and its ok that you were unable to do so for a while we understand.
its good that you have the option to go to your mothers after you get out of rehab and its great that that you have the house already prepped for your needs due to your fathers previous condition. It should hopefully help you get well fast.
thats awesome about the walking… however im curious as to what caused the issues with your lungs and why the need for the O2… I’m on 3 liters myself here at home, both when im sedentary and when i am up and about. it doesnt have the effect that i’d suffocate if i went off… i’d just be ou of breath trying to catch it. eventually i would. but i do agree its no fun having your lifie depend on a small tube. trust me, i get it.
you’re more than welcome for the thoughts and prayers. we continue to send them as you rehab and get stronger. we are so happy to hear from you here… its great to see you post!!
Take care, and keep getting stronger!
