Dagger 1000 round update

Purchased my first Dagger several weeks ago. It’s a basic black daily deal with the 10 mags and the case.

Prior to purchased I thought I would upgrade a number of parts but after shooting it I was so happy that I left it totally stock.

I’ve got just about 1000 rounds through it. I’ve shot six different types of ammo (including some CCI Blazer aluminum) and I haven’t had a single failure of any type.

It’s surprisingly accurate too.

I clean and function check the entire pistol after every use and the only problems I’ve noted are as follows:

  • At about 300 rounds the front sight was loose. I removed the screw added some loctite blue and reinstalled (it’s been fine since)
  • At about 800 rounds the guide rod spring retaining screw had walked about about half way (must have been doing this a little at a time but I didn’t notice). I removed the screw. Hard to tell but looked like it had some sort of thread locker on it from the factory. I added some loctite blue and it’s been fine since (but I check it every time now).

The Dagger really is a great gun and a super value. Thanks PSA.

Happy to hear you are enjoying your Dagger and thanks for sharing.

Good stuff.

Yep, pretty much same as me so far. Front sight and guide rod screw.

I wonder if loctite blue is sufficient for the guide rod or if I should be using red? Any idea what PSA recommends?

Blue. You want to be able to remove in case of an issue.

As I see zero reason to ever take it apart I’d go with the strongest, most permanent thread locker available. Red is good, and requires heat to remove the fastener. Green sleeve retainer is, I think, permanent. But few would have that laying around.
