Dagger C with X-slide break in

I got out for a longer range session yesterday (2/11/23). I’m at 250 rounds with 100+ dry presses.

I’ve not had any malfunctions with firing. Per some other posts I tried some gun grease on the rails and locking block/barrel lugs. Lucas Oil gun grease to be specific. Gun has been cleaned 2 times with Lucas oil CLP as that was closest to the cleaning area. 1st 40 rounds was lucas gun oil only.

No magazine issues with Glock OEM, Magpul or ETS. I wear a size 12 or XXL gloves and my 2 hand hold has my right thumb on the slide stop. Neddless to say I have learned to work around Glock and now the Dagger not locking open on the last round. When I altered my grip, lifting my tumb off the frame the slide locked open on the last round.

Due to the ejection pattern throwing spent brass straight up (1 handed or two hand hold used), I swapped to a well loved Glock OEM guide rod w/spring. No noticible change was noted in the ejection pattern.
Edit to add:
Additionally I put the X-slide on a Glock gen 3, G23 frame (with .40 S&W ejector bar) for 5 rounds and saw no noticble change in ejection. I have noted the slide gets hung up on assembly, with pulling the takedown bar and slight push, it locked in place.

At present I do not have a RDS with the RMR footprint to install. The extra weight may slow the slide down and fix the ejection pattern. This will be followed up on, once a RDS is installed.

Overall the dagger works well and I am very happy with the G19L set-up using the X Slide on the compact frame. As had been noted in other posts, the lip on the base of the frame has a noticeable edge if your pinkie is on it. In shooting 5, 10 or 15 round strings doing a quick regrip got me in the comfort zone and off the bottom hook/edge.

I neglected to take any pictures as it was a beautiful day outdoors.

I rate the dagger with X slide at

Great job PSA!

As far as holsters go, I have 3 that fit.
Safariland G17
Galco, Small of Back (not sure what this was made for) C619 T & SOB428B are embossed on the back. Add: Galco H&K .40 cal USP compact is what the holster is made for.
Galco shoulder rig, M119 WCD & 224B embossed on the holster.

These all clear the lowere 1/3 cowhitness front sight.

Anything else aside from some Crossbreed leather backed kydex shell rigs would not accept the Dagger. Non glock shell tested

Don Hume, Comp tac (small frame glock shell) and several other leathe belt holsters for Glock small frame pistols hung up on the front sight.

I have noticed with an RDS and comp, I get forward ejection sometimes. My friend’s OEM Glock with RDS does it too.
But a RSA is not going to change your ejection much if at all, unless you change spring weight drastically. Ejector is what you want. Gen 5 ejectors are flatter at the front, and more angled to kick brass out better. When my gun doesn’t forward eject, it comes out the side.

It is not forwad ejection.
Straight up with all cases on my hat or head.
My sleeve length is 38" and while not at full extension the brass is traveling 2 feet rear of the ejection port.

That’s why I mentioned forward ejection on my gun and my friend’s, both with a RDS on them. I know yours isn’t. My plain Dagger with no optic ejects up and back a lot too. Just a Gen 3 glock part thing.

My Dagger started out that way and after several hundred rounds they mostly go right, not far but better. I did see ammo made a difference, whitebox was worst.

I ordered some Lone Wolf 9mm ejector bars. These are their in house version of a gen 5 ejector. I will see how they work in my dagger and change out the .40 cal bar in my g23 convertd to 9mm.

Didn’t know they made a Gen 5-ish ejector. It still looks a bit different on the angle to me, but I may have to try one out some time.

Lone Wolf ejector bar arrived today. After removing some burs on the bar it was installed in the my Dagger Compact frame.
PSA in Black, Lone Wolf is stainless.

Not quite the same bend.

Test firing I got 90% right side ejection. Only fired about 20 rounds. I will continue to evaluate the new ejector as I get more range time.

I got my holosun sight in.

After taking it out for a test drive, my target may look like I suck.

P.S. the human silhouette with organs has been on the target stand for atleast 7 other targets in front of it.

The factory thread lock did not adhere, my sight came loose. I am in the process of fixing this, with reconfim zero after the lock tight blue, sets up.
Top left red circle is 2" low, center red circle is 1" low. Bottom right red circle, shows a nice cluster, 10 shos in 2 × 5 shot strings with a flyer 1/2 to 1" low. Another 5 shot string is 2" low. This was 15 rounds during elevation adjustment.

If you make a horizontzl line between the outdide square holes, the steel has a mount bolt in the center. Last 5 shots, 2 at center bolt (7 yards). Last 3 were at the right squar hole about 24 yards. All body shots were with the sight being loose during zero.

So it ejects at you in an arc? Is this unique to the Compact X slide?

@cheezwiz.ambullard
Not that I am aware of.

Edit to add:
Per some discussions here brass to the head is a common thing with glocks and since the Gen 3 pattent is expired the most common glock clones like the PSA Dagger are sometimes having this issue. I’ve had no rearward ejection past my elbow, I may get 1-2 cases hitting me mid forearm or falling in that area since I changed my ejector bar. All other brass is normal right side ejection.

The whole brass to the head (BTH) thing is new to me as, I have fired over 100 glocks and glock clones and never experienced this issue. I worked at a gun range for a while.

Changing out to a Glock Gen 5 ejector is said to fix this in the Dagger, I went with a Loan Wolf ejector bar similar to the Glock Gen 5 ejector or their version of it.

I’ve found running an optic tends to fling the casings forward a lot. Still get some going back though.
I guess overall it’s just really sporadic, but reliable at least.
