Dagger Extended Slide Release/Lock Lever

Has anyone been able to successfully install an aftermarket Extended Slide Release/Lock Lever on their Dagger?

I got lucky and managed to snag a Dagger recently with the intention of modding the heck out of it, as both a learning experiment and for fun. With the low cost of the Dagger and a million Glock 19 mods available why not?

After successfully changing out the sights, barrel, trigger and trigger connector, I have run into my first issue while trying to install an extended slide release/lock lever. It looks like the original slide release lever leaf spring is held “down” by the locking block itself, as there’s no “small upper pin” on the Dagger like most Glock 19’s.

There doesn’t appear to be much if any difference between the original and aftermarket extended release lever I purchased when it comes to the leaf spring, however when installing the aftermarket one I can’t get the spring to stay “unsprung”. The only possible difference I can see is that the angle of the leaf spring on the original might be slightly shallower than the aftermarket one. They seem to be the same length.

Maybe I can bend the leaf spring on the new lever back a bit more with some needle nose pliers so that it’s catching against the locking block? Anybody have experience doing this or any suggestions? I obviously don’t want to modify any individual parts much and risk a reliability issue. Maybe I’m just stuck with the original slide lever?

Did you buy one that is for glock gen 3?

Yessir. For a 3-pin Glock 19. Maybe I just got a defective part?

Post some pictures

Good idea, I’ll get some pics and post them when I get home tonight.

Most extended slide release pins won’t fit if not altered. The wire spring as it comes is too short. I have made two Vickers 3 pin extended slide release levers work by pushing the spring all the way forward where it is crimped and then contoured it tightly around the front by bending the spring around the forward trigger spring hole face. That gave me just enough extension to catch the loading block. But it’s still a PIA to re-install every time you want to change anything on the trigger group.

If anyone is still following this, PSA has slide release springs. I bought several and will report on how they work when they get here.

I installed a Vickers Tactical slide stop on my full size Dagger. The slide stop dropped right in and I did not have problems with the wire spring being too short that I had with my compact.
