OEM Glock extended mag release on a Dagger

Whos done it? Any pics anywhere? I’m going to order one along with a Strike Industries unit. I googled and couldn’t find any pics of how it fits/looks. Kinda curious, but I guess it wont matter since I’m gonna toss it in my order anyways.

Getting bored so I guess I’ll nerd out one of my Dagger frames.

@mattbbb14 built one combining the Dagger and Glock mag release together.
A Frankenstein!

I’m using a Vickers/Tango Down mag release and find it to be the perfect size. It’s rounded, got OEM style texturing, and sticks out just far enough to make it easy to drop mags compared to the Dagger one. But doesn’t stick out so far it causes accidents.
The OEM ones from memory are going to be longer than the Vickers. Just personal preference mostly on whether you like that or not.

Can you take just a little off the top?

so no issues with install and function correct? id imagine none to be had being it 3gen compatable.

I’d probably take a little here, then a little there, then a bit more to even it out and finally end up with something shorter than the original

The pics make it look ungodly long. In person it looks and feels fine.

Absolutely.

The only thing on my Dagger that I think just sucked was the mag release. It’s stiffer than a bishops pecker, too small and compact to easily reach or press, and it requires too much compression to drop a mag. IMO the main issue with it compared to a GEN3 Glock is the spring contacts the arc on the Dagger before releasing the mag, yet a Glock drops the mag before the spring hits the arc. I did a Glock extended mag release that I had in a P80 and that I had sanded and filed on. The Dagger mag release really complimented the P80 look, but the contour on the other sided of the frame doesn’t match up as well as it could.

Edit: Forgot to mention that I added a 2.5 lb Glock mag release spring. OEM Glock mag release spring is 5 lbs. Dagger with a 2.5 lb spring releases sightly easier than a stock GEN3 Glock IMO.

The only 2.5lb mag release spring I have found is a “Centennial Defense Systems” and it comes with the mag release also.

Is that what you use? Does anyone else make a 2.5lb mag release? Also can you buy just the spring? Or do you have to buy both spring and release together? I haven’t seen the spring by itself.

The Glock OEM extended magazine release works fine on the Dagger.

Yes it does. My pics are above. I’m asking about the spring thou. I’d love to try a 2.5lb spring on the Glock OEM extended release.

I used whatever Glock threw in the package with the mag release.

Actually yes, it’s labeled the CDS spring. I ordered mine off EBAY for less than $6 and it only came with the spring.

This is what I ordered. They are on most all popular aftermarket parts retailer for Glocks though, but I have an EBAY account and it makes ordering a little easier and is why I ordered from there and not somewhere like GlockStore.com or GlockParts.com, etc. I think even Brownells and MidwayUSA sells them though.

Has anyone used these:

Requires a little bit of gunsmithing, as the frame has to be clearanced to fit.

It’s a Permanent Modification - likely a Warranty-Killer (maybe!). But the actual mod seems straightforward and simple enough.

I’m just wondering if anyone has one, and pros/cons of the button, and “feel”.
