Good afternoon folks. I finally got a green slide for my green lower, and I got to take it to the range this Memorial Day weekend! I noticed the slide would become caught, despite still having ammo in the magazine. I used both a pmag, an extended pmag, and plain old OEM G19 mag, and found all three were having this issue.
It looks like the slide catch may have broke; the lower part of the spring does not move at all, and the slide catch level itself is very loose! The purpose of my write-up here is to ask if it would be faster to simply buy a new slide catch and install it meself, rather than RMA or complain at PSA. Is this a part that is similar in respect to Glock’s slide catch?
They are compatible with most Glock slide catches. I’ve found that 80% guns and aftermarket Glock clones in general can be finicky depending on the catch you use. Since they usually don’t have another pin for the spring to press against, just the locking block, some springs are a little short and can be really easy to have spring past the locking block and start locking open every shot.
Could try taking the slide catch out and reinstalling, or getting a new one and installing that. You only need to take the trigger pin out to remove it so it’s not as bad as full disassembly.
I’d first double check that spring isn’t getting caught all the way under/behind the locking block. It should be resting against the underside with a little bit of spring still sticking out and showing. If you don’t see the end of that spring, it’s not on right.
PSA may not need the gun back to fix/send a part out if you show it to them and they find it’s just the part. But you’ll also be waiting on that part.
For aftermarket I can confirm the Ghost Bullet Forward Slide-release/catch works fine. I also threw a Glock OEM one in and they fit too.
If you submit a warranty claim on the website we’ll send you a replacement

for specifically the slide catch, correct?
Yea alright. I have other daggers and things to keep me busy, so waiting for the part is not a bad idea at all. Thank you, MATT.
