hello… bought myself a new PSA gray slide… noticed that (firing pin) Striker changed again… all the ones I had before are silver… now this one came in bronze. (look at pic)
1st glock oem, 2nd psa bronze (no dot), 3rd psa silver (with dot)… any reason for the changes? bronze striker?
Steels, including stainless, change color when they are tempered (heat treated). You can even pick the color you want by controlling the temperature.
Specifying a color is a way of controlling who the supplier of the part is
But the newer Strikers have a DOT on them is this an older batch
It’d be an even easier identification point for the warehouse workers to look for bronze versus a dot on the striker to verify new design prior to ship.
Maybe you got lucky and you got the striker that was hardness tested in the production batch and the mark is of the hardness indenter.
Maybe the shop is using dots to identify which machine cell produced your striker.
Maybe is a defect.
Pretty sure the dot was used to id Gen 2. We used coupons a lot for testing rather than product.
Definitely the dot Strikers are Gen 2 so far I have not broken one! But I definitely can’t say the same for Gen 1… I’ve broken three so far
Weird how my Gen1’s are still going strong, even with all my non snap-cap dry fire too.
There’s nothing weird about it there’s plenty of people here who have broken Strikers
