Here is my experience with the Dagger I had recently purchased. Overall it is a good shooter and if you’ve shot Glocks or other polymer based guns it should be familiar. After I field stripped it, gave it a good wipe down, lubrication and a functions check I shot about 250 rounds through it with zero issues. No malfunctions. I shot 115/124 grain FMJ and 124 grain Holler Points. It cycles as expected. The extraction is good. The ejection developed a pattern around the 3 and 4 O’clock position. The slide locks back on the last round. The magazine drops without any hangups. If you’ve shot polymer based guns or modern guns they are extremely reliable and the amount of rounds shot through it is subjective IMO. My requirements for EDC in a gun would be over 1,000 rounds shot with zero malfunctions. As you can see from the grouping it is a good shooter and way better than I’ll ever be. I’ll shoot it more and we’ll see how it goes. So far, so good…
Thanks for that great review. I have several Glocks, but not a Glock 19. Ordered the dagger last week to fill the gap. Looking forward to shooting it and carrying it. Hope my groupings are as good as yours.
Thank you. For me, there is always room to be a better shooter. I don’t subscribe to the latest and greatest tacti-cool tech to shoot and improve. The best upgrade I can get is more ammunition and dry fire-daily.
July 4, 2021. Dagger and a PCR. 60 rounds through the Dagger. Zero malfunctions and no issues noted. Cycled as expected. The extraction was good and the ejection pattern was around the 3 and 4 o’clock position. As of this time the round count for my Dagger is at 310 rounds. After every shooting session the gun gets field stripped, visually inspected, cleaned and lubed whether it needs it or not. More to follow later.
Mine arrives Tuesday!
July 5, 2021. Dagger and a S&W 686 Plus 3". I shot 410 rounds through the Dagger this morning. The total round count through this gun is at 720 rounds. I shot 115 and 124 grain FMJ and 135 grain Hornady Critical Duty Flexlock. I shot from a distance of 5-25 yards on Steel and Cardboard. I shot standing as well as from the sitting position. No faults noted. The firing action cycle was as expected. The casings extracted with no issues. No issues ejecting. The magazine locked the slide back on the last round. The magazine slides out with no issues or hangups. No problems with the trigger reset. IMO-I am shooting in a controlled environment (a private range), at my own pace, with an overhang in the shade and favorable weather conditions. Shooter experiences may vary. I’ll keep posting up to 1,000 rounds. More to follow later. Have a nice day.
July 12, 2021. I shot 310 rounds today bringing the round count to over 1,000 rounds shot from my Dagger. I shot 6 inch paper plates at 10 yards and steel targets up to 25 yards. With the paper plates my shooting included a couple of trigger resets and a single hand manipulation-my accuracy suffers. IMO-even if I miss the 6 inch plate around the edges from a defensive standpoint shooting center mass of a human torso is going to be a hit. Aim small miss small. My personal assessment: Zero malfunctions, the slide actions with no issues, the gun extracts and ejects with zero issues, the magazine locks the slide back on the last round and the magazines slide out freely with no hangups. With all modern day handguns its a better shot than I’ll ever be. Buy this gun, train with it and shoot it often. Have a nice day.
Thanks for bringing us along with you on your 1000 round vetting process. I finally got a Dagger ordered yesterday. Looking forward to putting it through it’s paces. Based on yours, and other reviews I’ve seen, I’m sure I won’t be disappointed.
