Darned old eyes

I have the HE407K-GR, so far I’m struggling with it but getting better.

struggling in what way?

Struggling with learning 2 eye open shooting. I’m neither eye dominant and I really have to concentrate and pretty much have to be on my A game physically to not see 2 dots or even 2 fingers if I’m just sitting around the house practicing/training as it were.

Dont look or focus on the dot. Focus on your target. Like riding a bike, where you look is where your arms will go. Once there, you will be able to see the dot.

Like @GuitarGuy said, don’t look at your sight. Look at the target with both eyes open.

I do. And that’s when i get 2 dots. I think it’s a matter of training my brain to decide on which eye to use so i only see one dot. At least that’s what i think. Maybe there’s somebody on here who has dealt with something like this or knows more about dealing with a neither eye dominant thing. I think it’s pretty rare.

Interestingly, it’s not as prevalent on the EOTech HWS sights as the red dot format. I think it may have to do with the 1 MOA dot versus 6 MOA dot.

It’s kinda strange. When I sight my pistol and see the dot and then close my left eye, I can still see the dot. That’s how I know I’m right eye dominant. But when I sight the pistol and see the dot and close my right eye I can no longer see the dot.

I remember reading about training a single eye to be dominant. Sage Dynamics has a video that covers it a bit.

well, just to top this one off. I’ve been shooting the Dagger a bit recently and getting used to the Holosun sight. When I sight down it I see the ring well and it only looks a little blurry to me but not bad enough to worry much about. BUT. I was digging around in a box of old stuff that I keep under my desk at work and came up with my first pair of glasses. Oh nostalgia. These glasses were very weak and they didn’t last long for working at the computer. They were a .5 power on the right and .75 on the left. When I put them on I was amazed that everything from about 8ft out and farther snapped right into perfect clarity. When I got home and to my range I sighted down the Holosun and that ring was perfectly clear and I could see the target clearly as well. When I get a new set of specs made I will definitely bring the slide with me to try out.
