Hey guys. Im new to all PSA products but i’m trying to do a little research to help make my choice. So i’m set on getting a dagger, I currently run a G17 G5 but it’s harder to conceal in hotter days when clothing is slimmer. Im a 6’ tall 250 LB guy so it’s not the worst to conceal but I do get some printing primarily off the bottom end of the grip, (Strong arm 3’O clock IWB) I know I can test out different holsters as maybe a claw would help also.
I want to buy a Dagger compact but I don’t want to make the mistake of buying the wrong one. Can someone please help me clarify this.
There is a Dagger (is this the base model G19 Gen3 clone)
Then there’s the dagger Compact?
And full size dagger ?
And now compact X? Which is just a slide correct?
I want to be hopeful and hope that the dagger micro comes out before I make this purchase but in all honesty…. Who can ever have one too many? I’m just curious if this dagger compact will fix some carrying issues I have with my G17.
When I’m looking for products say a slide and a frame, I’d have to look for the specific title of “dagger compact” correct? I would not be able to get something that just says “dagger” and not “dagger compact” if I’m going for the whole dagger compact set up, correct?
ALSO. if the dagger and dagger compact are different in size, what’s the size difference ?
Right now the regular Dagger is the compact, G19 size. Full size right now is the full size S, with a 19 slide and a G17 grip length, so like a 19x. X slides are a 19L, so they work on G19 length frames, but stick out far enough to make it a G17 in overall length. Currently if you wanted a “full size” Dagger, get the Full Size S frame and X slide. Frame will still be shorter in the front though.
Going by what’s marked on the frames right now.
Compact and Full Size-S
Okay thank you for the clarification! I was getting confused on some things just saying “dagger” whilst others say “dagger compact” not sure which products were like that, maybe there’s some reasoning behind it.
I think I’m sticking with the original dagger. The micro just might be too small for my hands as I’ve owned the 1st ver. P365 and felt as it was too small on my hands without the 15rnd mag.
Hell yeah. I wish I could take advantage of their $499 kit with the Vortex mounted red dot and threaded barrel. But here in IL that’s a no no -.-
For some reason I’m not even able to buy a frame for a dagger separately. I can only buy a complete pistol, with a non threaded barrel. I’m actually able to get the slide and barrel assembly but not the frame. Kind of frustrating considering it sorta limits me to my builds. I get I can just buy one complete pistol and swap out the slides which I’m going to eventually do when I test out some red dots.
15 is fine in the new bill, no idea why we can’t buy the frames…probably consider that a “kit” which are illegal to buy now. Cant even by most parts i dont think. I’ll have to test it out. I need an End Plate with a QD mount and i dont think I can order one. So stupid dude, there literally isnt words to express myself properly.
Yeah 15 is fine in the state of IL. I’ve already had that since I’m in North Aurora which already had a 15rnd restriction for handguns. No threaded barrel also so that’s why I couldn’t get the Dagger compact W/ threaded barrel and Vortex red dot because of the barrel. I’ve tried to order the RMR cut slide with the holosun and tried getting a frame (no laser, just plain Jane) and i get the error something along the lines of “sorry we are unable to give shipping quotes for this destination” when I put my zip code in for shipping. Thought it was just aurora so I had a friend try to buy the frame since he lived in lower IL but still to no avail, unable to ship.
Part of me almost considered going through the hassle of shipping to an Indiana FFL and have them transfer that over to my FFL here but I’m sure PSA bases it off of your address even though it’s not getting sent there. I could be wrong as many people hold out of state licenses for states they might also reside in that don’t have such bull💩 laws and ordinances.
Yea its insane here, chicago needs to seperate from the state, or we need to find a way to get all the dirt on IL State so we can get rid of them all. Neither which will happen lol
Agreed. IL is going to suffer the same like CA has. Chicago brings a bad rep to Illinois and it doesn’t help that we have a governor who wants to be president now . Chicago already acts like a sovereign state but brings everyone else down with it. Growing up in the south side of Chicago I know there’s nothing you can do to change the way criminals operate. If there’s a will there’s a way and the honest working way isn’t praised as it should be there. Always people on the lookout for a quick buck. That’s why there’s a huge decline of Population in Illinois. ■■■■ these taxes too
I avoid IL because I can’t legally carry there. My KY permit don’t work, and even residents aren’t allowed to open carry.
Don’t want to risk it with the horror stories about LEO that I’ve heard there.
Concealed only. 16hr classes(not free). $150 fee for residents. 120 day processing time without fingerprints, 90 days with. They make it so hard. When I lived in Indiana I had to pay $70 for a lifetime license to carry a handgun, nothing else aside the background check. I’m going to get my OOS Florida license since few like to honor IL permits.
Oh and yeah those dirty LEO. I have a few of those horror stories of my own. We all know CPD is the biggest gang in Chicago.
How’s KY working for you? Honestly KY,TN, And Tx were on my list. I’m going to be honest though, when I lived in Indiana, my browned skin didn’t seem to please a lot of residents there. Granted that’s anywhere but so far in aurora I haven’t experienced any hate… could be that there’s a huge Hispanic and African American presence here though.
I forgot that I saw Academy won’t sell or transfer ANY firearms to IL now. Due to some law change or something is what the sign said. Not sure what exactly what is in it, but that may be part of it.
But this is also Academy, who wouldn’t let me open carry inside during COVID, the one day I actually decided to. Won’t let me clear my firearm to compare something in the store(Apparently G5 Glock’s are having ejection issues now. Looks like the ejector may be slightly different), and doesn’t sell AR’s off the shelf anymore, only online, since the pandemic and the Kyle RH stuff happened.
But they will sell other tactical 9mm PCC’s like the Ruger’s.
I’d say if PSA won’t even sell it then it’s probably a law then.
I never go out of state at all, and get instant background check passes. So I finally decided to legally conceal after years of not. Took my class that sucked, paid for the permit process, convenience fee for doing it online, sheriffs office fee. Then months later, KY gets permitless concealed carry. Compared to IL it wasn’t bad though. Took less than a month overall. And the total price was like 160.
No real experience out of state so not sure. People seem nice enough in person, at least compared to online. So I take what I can get. Guess it depends where in KY as well. There are more lefty places, and ones that aren’t. I’m in Paducah and it doesn’t seem bad here. There are clear areas where there’s increased crime and shootings that you do want to avoid though.
Why haven’t I heard of KY’s permitless conceal carry? Is it the same as IN’s advance to constitutional carry?
And yeah a month isn’t much of a wait. I think just 30 days is invested into rigorous background checks and then once cleared you’re in the process.
I’m not moving because I wanna have a few extra rounds in a magazine, or because I can’t own a semi-auto rifle now. Im just totally over paying and paying into these high taxes with hopes that we’d get a better turn around 5 years later, but in reality the tax plans that tried to implement 5 years ago was completely ignored. Lived the city life, not worth it. Good opportunities but the best ones are the ones you can make yourself. I lived in Mexico for a year And no not in Quinta Roo, Cancun or puerto Vallarta. Not too fond of having a neighbors house 6 feet apart and at least 50 registered sex offenders in a mile radius.
It happened years ago now. Like 4-5 maybe. If you can buy and own the handgun, you can conceal it. The usual restrictions on location applies, like bars, health care facilities, gov buildings and all. Reason I finally wanted my permit is because carrying in your car counted as concealed for some dumb reason, but now it doesn’t matter. Permit took less than a month actually. I think it may have been just a week and a half, if not just a week.
Oh, fun thing that JUST happened in Paducah that I don’t care for, and didn’t hear about until a week or two ago. In 2018 Mconnell signed something to have a joint DEA/FBI/ATF office built here. Well it’s done now. He came down and cut the ribbon.
Not too worried about the DEA, but the other two…
Oh right, bad drivers here too, and apparently everywhere.
