Drop in quad rail

Any suggestions for a drop in midlength quad rail? I have 16" PSA Freedom AR 15 and I’m at work and can’t remember if it has triangle or round front cap, so I’m taking the easy route and asking here.

Carbines are Round. RIfles are Triangular.

A good Cost Effective Quad Rail is made by Mid West Industries…unless you are dying to spend Ransome Money on Knights Armament Corp stuff?

Just an educated suggestion after having taken both paths.

I had a quad rail, and hated it. They are not comfortable to shoot imo. There’s a company called Unbranded that sells a decent free float rail with barrel nut at a decent price. I think Psa sells free float rails also. Quad rails add more weight, and chew up your hand.

I had an identical experience. I got rid of mine after two trips to the range with it and went back to a polymer Magpul MOE handguard. Far more comfortable and lighter.

I know why the military uses them, anything in the world can be mounted securely on quads and most of the time gloves are worn. But for civvie use in home defense? Nah.

I don’t see any reason to swap out oem handguard unless your going to mount a bunch of stuff to rail. Otoh free floats can improve accuracy at long range if you have a good barrel, and match grade ammo.

All the Free Float comments are Dead Accurate if Weight and Comfort are big obstacles?

Keep in mind…the Midwest Unit I mentioned at your request for a Quad Drop In , weighs less than the overpriced Military KAC Rail…they also make Flush Mounted Rail Covers to protect those non-gloved hands. The KAC Covers Suck.

I have the Gambit of styles and each has its pluses and minuses . You have to Check your own boxes on something like this.

If you are trying to achieve an early WOT M4 look? QUAD DROP IN. Beyond that Free Float and depending on brand? They get heavy and can eat your hands up too. Especially Daniel Defense Quad Rails without Ladder Covers. Price? No bargains in that bunch.

I have two M4A1’s with DD Rails and a Mk18…all Heavy and Expensive…but Love’em dearly.

The Geiselle Rail aka URG-I designed for SF and the Rangers is the ticket on weight. .not so much on price but it’s sweet as Free Floating goes.

Hell… its a matter of Needs, Tastes and Budget as to what to do,…its an Open Book Test.

I already switched the clam shell for the MOE. Just thinking about going for the mall ninja look. Got a free float and a 20" A4 style that I shoot more and felt my first born was being neglected

Thanks!

Midwest industries seems pretty solid, i have the mid length with just top rail and mlok sides. Fits pretty good. Never held onto a quad but it seems bulky as hell.

I’ll check them out!

Bulky is adding the KAC style Rail Covers…using the Ladder Style Covers isn’t so bad.

I prefer Quad Rail when using a Vertical Grip on a Rifle or Legal Length Carbine.

Troy quad rail. Fits Knights RAS covers. Its light. And its what can be expected from an m4 . Free floats great if you want to loose the A2 front sight gas block and delta ring.

Here’s my quad rail gun. Really quad rails aren’t my favorite either, I just did it for nostalgia reasons, but the handguard I had on it before was a better one. This quad rail is just some CCC. (Cheap China Chit) lol, I just made that up… Really.

It’s got the LaRue clip-on thingamabobbers, and a KAC vertical grip. The BCM MOD grip, linear break, and cheap dit mounted to the carry handle help it to not look nostalgia IMO, but the dust cover 8s definitely old-school. Maybe time to change this guns setup again, but I haven’t shot this particular gun in quite some time.

Interesting dust cover!

Yes. Noveske popularized them back in the day. It comes from “Team America: World Police.” One of the greatest movies ever made BTW.

So I ended up with my dad’s m&p15… Got a UTG quad for it and decided to give my first AR a new camo job. Pix tomorrow.

I got mine done to where I wanted it. Surplus, take off and used parts. Non cage code parts made by the exact same contractots. PSA M4 clone lower. LE turn in S&W 14.5 chromed upper. Came with actual milspec chromed carrier . Colt made the barrels for these .I pin and welded an extended cage to bring it to compliance .4” at a paper plate .My buddy 2 inch groups LOL. With a 2 moa dot. The Sig Romeo 7 full size 30 mm . Looks close to the Comp M4s . Xtac 62 g LAP ammo. Havent tried feeding it anything else yet. What your average service member would of been handed.
