Hello all AK-V newbie here.
Brand new AK-V. I have 4 PSA 35 rnd. mags. With all mags I am having ejection issues (stove pipes)
New manufactured Winchester 115Grain FMJ ammo.
I am very disappointed with my Grail Gun!
This is my first AK platform firearm. I hope there are some of you who can please suggest a quick fix.
I would hate to have to send it back to PSA, as I have sent in two emails to PSA in the last week and have not received any communication back from them. Not a good sign!
Thank you in advance for any help and advice.
Dan.
First, can you post pictures? Also, have you cleaned the chamber good and then lubed it good?
Try different ammo before you send it in. Winchester has been pretty weak lately, enough to just flop out of my ar-9.
Have not tried different ammo yet.
I will do that when I get a chance.
Thanks. Dan.
Different rifles need different amounts of gas.
If you load your own bullets, you can experiment with load size and see how much gas, works best.
I have an Aero 6.5 Creedmoor, the one with the 24" barrel.
It took me 2 years to get it working right.
I had to learn to load it as a Magnum, with lots of slow burning powder. e.g. IMR 4350 & 4831.
Hodgdon reloading said I could use smaller amounts of faster burning powder, but that just did not cycle the action reliably. e.g. IMR 4064.
Please keep us posted Dan. I have a new AKV that I will be shooting soon.
I anticipate no issues.
Ejection issues, think MEAL (Magazines, Extractor, Ammo or Lube)
Bought mine about a month ago and had to have a RMA created to send it back for repair the day I got it. Complete disappointment for a $1200 purchase. They fired it and said nothing was wrong but it came back working. I went through 300+ rounds day one it arrived and every mag (5x from PSA) stove piped. Once returned (not repaired) it only did it once on another 300+ rounds. So go figure. Had to wait to for it to come back about 12-14 days, but it seems to be okay now.
Thats what I am afraid I will need to do.
Great disappointment in the gun, but what worries me the most is they have not responded to my emails 5 and 6 days later.
Well today was their first day back after the super busy holiday season…
Good news!
PSA is a good company and they stand behind their products. If you expect a quick response to your question the week after what may have been their busiest Christmas season on record, you’re living in a dream world. Be patient and they’ll take care of you.
Terry, true my worry about not getting a response yet may ruffle fanboy sentiments, but tomorrow will be one week since I reached out to PSA. I will do my best to wake up and expect a response.
With patients, Dan
Dan,
Did you try calling and leaving a callback message? I contacted their customer service department twice in this way. Both times I received a callback the same day. Another thing to keep in mind is that they’re likely short staffed now like everyone is. It seems that nobody wants to work. I’ve recently read similar complaints about slow customer service response from people on other forums regarding some of the high end manufacturers as well.

Message Josiah_PSA he will take care of you.
I will make a call to Josiah today!
That is exactly my problem.
I was thinking the ejector the problem, but I too have some cases stuck inside the action ad well.
Thank you all for the great advice and help!
Dan.
I don’t know how easy it will be to reach Josiah by phone. He is on this forum often. Send him a message on this forum, send a private message to Josiah_PSA. He should respond within a day or so.

Thank you very much Mike!
I’d put at least 700 rounds through it before contacting. I’ve had several PWA products come with rough edges, and general half-assed-ness. I would break it down, inspect for any rough edges, burrs, lackluster finishing and fix them myself if possible. It may also need to just generally break-in some components or mags.
But, I don’t fear doing some light work on a firearm, and others may not be as comfortable. Either way, I hope your issue gets resolved.
Guy. I took your advice and removed the bolt and had a good look at the extractor with the Jewlers loop.
Sure enough the lip of the extractor was broken and jagged for about two thirds of its length, leaving a sharp slanting lip edge. I found the extractor lip to be thin as a knife edge.
I removed the extractor and carefully and slowly filed it back to a straight edge.
That did not remove much of its length at all.
Just in case I ordered the $19 AKV Spare Parts pack from PSA , which contains a new extractor.
I hope to get a chance to hit the range later this week and test it out.
I guess I am just luck?. Of all the firearms(many) I have bought new in the last 48 years they have all ran as advertised right out of the box.
Thanks for the advice, Guy !
Cheers Dan.
