First 5.7 Rock in the wild!

What part of GA i should be over that way in a few weeks in the upper part near helen and cleveland.

South of there, good ole Gwinnett County!
Not sure if there is a way to PM, but I could definitely try to help you out.

It is neat, the notched Pmag/brass catcher is pretty cool.

Back when the market was crazy, I thought about unloading all my 57 stuff…

ahh i’ve a few calibers like that… .224 valkyrie and the 458 socom, I think i’ve reached the conclusion that i want to seperate ways with myself and those two calibers largely because i have too many different calibers. it also has made sure that i do not want to invest myself into 350 legend land either. lol. .i have too many rifles and its time to downsize the ones ill never shoot.

i bet it is awesome. yeah that pmag brass catcher would be awesome. i have heard that you can do that for the PS90 as well, but im not sure as i’ve not found it anywhere online lately. What all do you have 57 wise besides the upper? i konw its an expensive round, but i love fn, and im big into the FN stuff since its columbia based manufcaturing for the FN line. Its also why i love PSA and their stuff. well one of the many reasons why i love PSA at least.

Side by side of the Rock 57 and Rugger 57.
The rock fits my hand much better and the magazine release is easy to reach.
Both triggers have a little take-up and break about the same but the PSA has a clean reset that the rugger dose not. “the rugger reset is hard to detect”.
The PSA magazines fit the Rugger just fine maybe a little snug but will drop free most of the time.
The rugger magazines do not have the cuts for the PSA magazine release so they will not work.

The Rock seams to be thinner and not as long as the rugger so i hope some one makes a holster for the Rock soon.

EDIT: i forgot to mention that the Rugger has much better sights but the magazine release is hard to reach with normal hands.

You can see the PSA magazine on the right has the cuts in the side but on the left is the rugger that is missing the cuts for the magazine release.

The PSA rock has no thumb safety like the rugger.

I bet you with a nice measuring and marking and dremel you can cut those mags without damaging them at all, and then it would work in both guns if thats the only issue.

thank you for posting them side by side with that little review i appreciated it alot

The side cuts were the only issue i could find.
They fit but i did not check how far in they fit, i guess i need to see if they will lock the bolt open by holding them in place.

that would be one way to try… My reasoning on this is because i had see what one of our other moderators once did to the beretta magazines that he had for an older berrretta pistol that would fit the 92 but never latch… so all he did was cut the older berettas magazines to have the same latch placing as the 92s, and voila… (full disclaimer, i may have the procedure backwards… I.E. it was the 92s mags he modified to latch in the older beretta, so im not sure which way anymore cause its been a while and i’ve got chemo brain and lack of sleep going on right now) so yea. there you go.

Not any different than cutting slots in Uzi magazines to work in the colt pattern magwell of my ar9. “mine is the old style when we had to use magwell inserts”.

I might give it a try once i collect up some magazines but not gong to try with the only 2 rugger’s i have right now.
i am not scared of armature guns smithing, i have built 1911’s so i am used to filing and polishing to make things work.

Also I am just kind of overwhelmed with gun projects right now and do not need to start a new one till i catch up on some other projects.

I finally saw one available for purchase! So tempted to pull the “trigger” on this one.

I ordered 150 rds from Natchesz. They had it for $38/50, and ordering 150 it came in at $45/50 with shipping and tax. Its the cheapest i could find.

Got my Rock about 2 weeks ago. Really nice gun and REALLY good price! Wish I could get maybe 2 more
Mags for it but haven’t even fired it yet, so the two it came with should be fine. Also, only have about 250 rounds right now.

Was good to see someone compare the Ruger with the Rock, because I almost bought the Ruger just before PSA put their 5.7 on sale!

i still want a ruger even though i have the rock. i also wanna pick up at least 2 maybe 4 more mags for it… that way i think i’ll have enough full. thats one thing that im drastically lacking for my FN FiveseveN is magazeines. i only have the 3 it came with from the factory. the problem with FN is their mags are so bloody expensive.

well hell, most of their kit is bloody expensive.

Do you think the FTF was due to weak magazine spring tension? I shot it at The Gathering and it was flawless.

really not sure had never happened before or after. granted I have only put about 150 rounds through it.
