I put my first pistol together and I was pretty proud of myself.
My materials list:
Dagger lower (no FCG)
Dagger slide - RMR cut/Green cerakote
ZEV PRO trigger
Swenson 4.02-in. Barrel (9mm)
Lone Wolf Glock 19 Gen 3 recoil spring
Truglo RMR Red Dot sight
(2) Magpul GL9 magazines
First, let me say the trigger is as good as my stock Gen 5 G19. The first mag completely knocked the red dot off of center, or my Site-Lite boresighter was completely off. I figure it’s going to take a box or two of ammo to get it dialed in.
First mag - one stovepipe
Second mag - no problems
Third mag - with four rounds left to go, the mag dropped right out of the lower.
After that, I stopped. Took it home and disassembled it, cleaned it, and I’ll give it another try later. It’s been a disappointment, but any time someone attempts to build their own firearm, hiccups should be expected.
I assume you have an OEM PSA Dagger magazine catch? If so, you could consult with PSA customer service as to whether a replacement Dagger magazine catch (and catch spring) might resolve the issue.
sounds like you have an awesome first pistol there and after a little bit of troubleshooting you’ll be good to go. Was the magazine that fell out the same mag as 1 or 2, or were you using different magazines for each run? if it was a different magazine, it could be a problem with the mag as well, and not the gun, since the first two mags had no issues.
i look forward to hearing about your next trip to the range.
Both mags are identical Magpul GL9’s. The RMR red dot has me puzzled. I torqued it down with the pressures indicated by Truglo (20 in.-lbs.) and it still shifted. The stovepipe I get. It’s a new slide and the coating still hasn’t completely worn off. I took the barrel out and really cleaned it.
