I usually keep a shotgun with me at camp, but I wanted something on me at all times that packed a nice punch. So I went with a FN 510 MRD. I have a chest holster on the way. Looking forward to trying out this setup.
What do you guys carry at camp?

i like the look of your chest rig. . it looks like it would be fairly comfortable with those big wide straps.
i’m not a fan of the 10mm though, and as for camp carry, i dont camp so i dont have an anser for you there.
Why don’t you like 10mm? I’ll be honest. I’ve yet to shoot this gun or any other 10mm. After all it’s just a spicy .40 S&W
. I’m sure it will bring a smile to my face.
It’ll bring a Huge smile to your face. The 10mm is super fun to shoot, and big and chunky enough to really deter them bears/bobcats/coons and will surely handle ANY 2 legged Animal camp invaders here in North America. Plus you’ll be able to gobble up loads of 40S&W ammo for substantially less and it’ll all choot just fine ![]()
Are you saying I can shoot .40 S&W out of this same barrel?
im a big .45acp fan. i just dont see a need for the 10mm … i do have .40 s&w though, just in case i find some ammo of it laying around after the world ends i find it important to have something that can fire it.
I thought about picking up a H&K USP .45 Tactical. It can shoot regular .45 ACP and .45 Super. Reason being that the .45 Super is suppose to be darn close in ballistics to the 10mm. Pretty cool versatility. I might still get one.
100% you can
probably the one HK that I have wanted to pick up but never have yet.
10mm is the preferred round, other than 12ga in bear country ![]()
Just got the holster in earlier this week from Wasatch Holsters on Etsy. My first impression is that this thing is very well made. Far better than what I was expecting. This thing is really nice. I’ll have to wear it for a couple of trips to see how it feels and holds up.
so did you ever take this hot rod out and use it or did the bears get ya?
Actually, I gave it away as a going away gift to a good friend of mine that moved out to the Pacific North West. It was a good fit for him and his family since they are out in the middle of the woods every chance they get. He loves it and is getting a chest rig for his wife. I purchased another FN510T for myself. I’m going to order another holster. I really liked it as well. For now I just keep a .40 S&W H&K P2000 and .300blk AR pistol at camp with me.
very nice on the 510t. I do love their T versions of their guns.
The transfer of the firearm to your friend works perfectly since it suits their PNW needs. You made an excellent decision buying another FN510T since they are top-notch firearms. Your camp accommodations made with both the .40 and the .300blk function perfectly together.
