Hey I was looking to get some opinions on breaking a stubborn gas block free. I’m looking to swap my handguard with another on a “franken” PSA build. While I originally installed the barrel, I used blue loctite 242 on the .750 gas block set screws. Apparently I used a little too much, as I got the screws loose but the block won’t budge, I can see a bit of loctite protruding from the edge of the gas block telling me the extra sealed the gas block with the barrel. Any ideas for getting it loose? I haven’t tried anything yet as I don’t want to damage anything, I’m thinking I might use heat and a hammer.

Blue will come loose with heat. You need a heat gun though, as a hairdryer won’t be hot enough.

Would using a blowtorch damage the barrel?
You can use your gas stove cook top. It will get it hot enough and not damage anything……use caution! Keep the heat only on the gas block area….not near anything aluminum. Heat it for a short time…start at about 25 or 30 seconds….then let it sit …… UN-heated for 30 seconds……this allows the rest of the gas block to absorb the heat (heat sink). It should be enough. If not increase time to 30 seconds……but it should work.
