Girsan MC 14T Tip-Up

My girlfriend carries a 38 special snub nose revolver as she has an issue racking the slide. She also does not like to shoot it as it has a good amount of kick, she had it long before we go together.

Does anyone have any experience with the Girsan MC 14T? Thanks in advance for any feedback, good or bad.

No experience with that pistol but it looks pretty cool. Very Barretta looking. My wife has issues with racking a pistol as well, she’s 68 with arthritis in here hands. I got her the EZ 9mm. Still packs the punch but easier for people with compromised hands.

I thought about something like that, she tried both my Ruger LCP max and SIG 365 in 380 and she had issues with them as well. Was looking for something that does not need to be racked.

that’s the thing about smaller pocket pistols. They hurt to shoot. The S&W is small but not too small. That is also one of the things I like about that Girsan, if it has the same heft as a 92F then it should be easier to shoot than an LCP. I have a Security-9, my wife can’t rack that. She can’t rack my Dagger either, but she can handle the EZ.

I don’t have experience with that specific Girsan but I do have a Beretta Jetfire with a similar tip-up barrel and can say it is useful for those that have issues with racking slides.

Although, if one has arthritis or overall wrist/hand strength issues, wouldn’t they also have issues with loading mags? Just a thought.

I would bet that Girsan is much more pleasant to shoot than a snubby, even with .38spl loads. I suppose a compromise would have to be made one way or another in that kind of situation.

the loading mags is an issue for some people, hell my sig and ruger in 380 hurt my hands to load the last 3 rounds. Also in a self defense situation most people will not have a box of ammo with them.

I would rather her get more proficient with drawing the weapon and putting rounds on target. Plus some of the speedloaders out there make it a lot easier to load mags.

yes there are those of us that have extra things packed away in some secret spots, I just don’t carry any loose ammo on me.

will look at the Baretta.

Just so you know I wasn’t recommending the Beretta Jetfire to you, IMO it doesn’t quite have the juice for self-defense being a .25ACP and it’s a really tiny pistol, I was just saying it has the same tip-up barrel and I can vouch that it is useful for people that have trouble with slides.

I think the MC-14T would be a nice compromise for what you’re looking for.

Found that out when I saw it was 25.

Appreciate the input anyway.

Accurate and feasible in my eyes. Take a bunch of time and break it in for her, tighter than 2 coats of paint OOB. May or may not have one I’m happy with.
Oops, this one.

There are several tests on YT. hrfunk had some problems, but found ammo the gun likes. I have a couple of tip up Taurus .22 s, they are VERY ammo sensitive and not cross compatible, the PLY likes Federal Match, the PT-22 metal frame likes CCI solids.

Who has limited experience, but the tip up barrel Beretta 80 series was ammo sensitive as well. (A friend had one at the range and said it liked Remington HPs and round nose only.)
